Biography
Feather
A bluebird's nest, a modest bowl of weaved sticks, insulated with their own soft down and an arrangement carefully plucked petals, rested on a nook of a flowering cherry blossom. An oversized egg at its centre rolled dangerously back and forth with each breeze and threatened to crush its siblings.
It was such a strange sight: such a small nest with such small birds and such tiny eggs, and in the middle of it all - a single large egg!
When the egg hatched, its avian foster parents failed to realise that the long scaled body and leathery wings indicated that it was no bird. The hatchling was a little bigger than his siblings, and had just an extra pair of legs, and that didn't mean that his parents loved him any less. They fed him the best seeds they could find, and was determined to raise him up to be a great bluebird.
The hard work of his loving parents paid off, and he grew quite handsomely and strong... towering a couple of metres above his own family in fact. The bluebirds knew that they have done a great job with the worms and nuts they gave their children (look how big he is!), and held great pride.
Eventually, it was time for the fledglings to leave their nest. The two bluebirds were old, and they were to stay and watch the blossoms fall for one last time, on the anniversary of their chick's hatchday. Stretching their wings, his siblings took off into the sky. He looked at his parents, and they gave him a reassuring smile. Like the cycle of the seasons, life must go on. He looked up at the sky - the great blue expanse, the puffs of clouds, wisping off into the distance, the infinite horizon - he stretched his wings, ran, took off... ready to take on the world, join a new flock, a new life...
***
He has a beautiful singing voice, but has trouble speaking the common draconian language. He also has a taste for seeds that other dragons see as strange. He likes to sleep close to other dragons, just like he nestled together with his family, and misses them every day.
