Gwyneira

The modern world is a dangerous place for dragons as ancient as the Gaolers. Some of the Seekers perished during their journey out into Sornieth. Others saw that their ineptitude would not serve the purpose of their order, and made the hard decision to sacrifice themselves for the sake of this purpose. Although these dragons appeared to die, a part of their spirit traveled on, to merge with a dragon the Gaoler considered worthy. These dragons transformed into Gaolers, and inherited the Seeker's purpose and many of their attributes. They retain memories and parts of the personality from both of their previous lives, in the hope that their experience in the modern world and their drive to exterminate the Shade will allow them to fulfill the plan of the Icewarden.

Gwyneira was a mere Skydancer cook, an insecure dragon whose biggest everyday problem was having the courage to experiment with new recipes. That is, until the day she woke with the form of a dragon none in her clan had seen before. The news of the return of the Gaolers quickly spread, and Gwyn understood what kind of dragon she was, but not why she had been chosen. Whispers in the back of her mind drove her to throw away her adornments and hoard, and to dedicate herself to the purposes of the Gaolers. However, her insecurities still plagued her. She was not a fighter, not a scholar, and not a mage. The dragon possessing her—no, the one who had become part of her—must have made a mistake. How could she hunt down the creatures of the Shade and fulfill the duty thrust upon her?
