Children of the field medic and mortician often find themselves fascinated with cadavers and corpses. Some do eventually leave the nest to become healers (albeit unsettling ones with a less-than-ideal bedside manner) though a precious few reject their parents’ teachings entirely, instead setting out to forge their own path; others choose to put their knowledge to other uses and only time will tell whether they will use it for good.

Regardless, all depart with at least this one lesson in their heads: only the strong are spared by the Plague.

Kincogb.png Isley turns away from the life that his parents and many of his siblings lead before him; in a surprising turn of events, he pursues botany instead.

There isn't much one can learn about plants when one is born and raised in a raider gang that terrorises the Wasteland, however, and both his mothers realise this the day he first brings home a clumsy bunch of flowers cobbled together from scattered weeds around the encampment the gang calls home.

The moment Isley is old enough to fend for himself, he is sent away to the Gladekeeper's domain. With nothing but the clothes on his back and a day's worth of rations, he braves the Abiding Boneyard and the Tangled Wood, and then, he's there.

It's green, green, green, as far as the eye can see. Isley takes a deep breath, and walks on.
