Somewhere in her hive, deep underground. Hidden in clan grounds as best we can manage while she recovers.
Hive's size:
Unknown, fully underground and the many entrances are well hidden.

Unknown? Probably 20-30+, might be closer to 40-50+ now, though. 3
Shift is an interesting little oddball. Got captured and assimilated by one of her current drones. Who was attempting to start a hive in Shadow territory, not far from our clan at the time. But her transformation into a Consciousness was probably not planned.
After an accident with Freckles that I don't have the space to go into here she got into semi-decent contact with us. Revealing she really didn't want to be a threat and offered mutual protection as an option.
So far it's actually proved quite beneficial for both of us. Though several of our members aren't entirely comfortable with any of her kind being nearby. I think the diplomat drone 'Vessel' being around helps some.
Eleven save us.
Shift has been usurped by her daughter 519. 519 caught her off guard and started stealing control of drones in the hive before attacking Shift directly. Fighting a physical and mental battle to control the hive.
Unfortunately, Shift was forced to retreat when her praetorians were both stolen. Luckily she did have an escape shaft leading to the ocean, unfortunately 519 was very determined to finish the job and chased her out of the hive with a Banescale praetorian of her own. Our fighters were able to intercept them and drive off Shift's attackers but not without injuries of their own.
Shift is staying within the clan's grounds while she recovers. We're gathering a plan to prepare for the worse, having nearly lost our nearest and possibly strongest ally. Many are unhappy with the proximity of her and her surviving sentient drones but we're trying to keep them from freaking out too badly.
