Biography
Greek mythology. An Aerico is a disease demon from Greek folklore. It is often believed to normally dwell unseen in the air, though it sometimes takes the form of a human. As a disease demon, Aerico are believed to spread disease, such as the plague and malaria.
"The request is for one Hatchling. If we can get something out of it, all the better."
Aerico remembers his Clan Mother's words quite well. Along with the smirk she had when she added the part about a bonus of sorts for their clan. He took it to heart. Stealing the two near identical Hatchlings had been a breeze. There had been a single guard in his way. One of his very rapid acting diseases had done the job of eliminating that headache. Then he'd found their charges. To be honest, he could have chosen any of the sheltered little brats. They didn't think to run or hide. Two had caught his eye almost instantly though. Lovely little things. So he grabbed them both and left.
He had hired a crew to transport them to their destination. He could have flown, but it was a long trip and he didn't fancy making it carrying two Hatchlings. The boy turned out to be trouble though. "Boss! Hey, Boss! What are we supposed to do with him? He keeps biting and scratching everyone."
The Coatl rolls his eyes. Imbeciles, the lot of them. "Incompetent, the lot of you. Put off your jobs by a baby." His red eyes scan the deck of the ship and he grins. "Bring me the box." He grabs up the struggling little Spiral and laughs outright at the feeble attempts of the Hatchling to hurt him. Sneering at the boy, he stuffs him into the box roughly. "Enjoy your journey."
After shutting the box up tight, he looks at the female Hatchling. "You will behave now, wont you, girl?" At her hesitation, he grins. "If you don't I will find a box for you as well." That gets vigorous nodding from the girl and satisfies him. Pampered little things. The babes of his Clan never would have let him take them so easily.
The journey had been going smoothly after boxing up the boy. Until there was something in the air. Aerico looks around, feeling something off. What was it? War. Yes, that was it. There is war on the air. Too close at hand. This will not do. There is a shift in the air. He knows what it means. Smiling, he looks down at the female Hatchling he'd stolen. "It is time to leave, little one."
That is when she decides to cause him trouble. Of course it is. Pampered little thing is not thinking and does not want to leave her brother behind. No matter. Taking a bite to the hand, he shoves the girl in a sack before making sure to tie it shut tight. Taking to the air, he flies up high enough to not be in range. There, he watches the ship be sunk. "Pity that. No matter."
So he turns without further thought of the male Hatchling and returns home to his Clan and Clan Mother. He drops the sack at the Guardian female's feet. Her red eyes peer at the sack and then him. "You have returned here too quickly to have delivered a Hatchling to the client, Aerico."
He grins then. The look at worried him, but her tone sounds more approving. "The route they provided went through a war zone. I do believe they meant to cheat us out of our pay, Mother Rashtlin."
That sets the Clan leader's tail to flicking. The only sign they get of her irritation. Usually that is even controlled. "We will have to repay them for their kindness then. You will pay them a visit, of course." She eyes the sack again. "I see you brought us home a little something. Tell me, what will it be good for? Will Iapetus have a new apprentice? He keeps asking after one."
Aerico shakes his head. "Too pampered for much use." He suddenly grins, an evil look locking with the clan leader's red eyes. "I do believe she'd make a lovely courtesan though. Only real use she might have. Pretty little thing. Soft. "
The Guardian female slowly lets a rather malicious smile spread across her dark features. "We did not have a Courtesan before. Very good work, Aerico. You shall be properly reward for your excellent work... after you pay the client a visit. A slow, lethal disease this time, I think. Hmm?"
He bows his head with a delighted smile. "My favorite kind. It shall be done."
