”Glancing over the decayed scroll in her claws given to her by the old Scribe, Silverwind shakes her head and enters the mouth of the cave. Shouldering her way through the narrowing cavern tunnels; dusting off the occasional spiderweb grazing her cloak, Silverwind quickens her pace as she approaches a fork in the path. Glancing at her scroll for directions, the Fae lets out a hum of surprise as it points out a narrow pathway she failed to see before, as it was so well concealed by the darkness of the cave. Squeezing through the opening and struggling through some particularly tight spots along the path, the Fae presses onward. Noticing that the tunnel was beginning to open up, Silverwind races ahead until she finds herself standing within a massive cavern. Looking around in awe, the Fae dragon is stupefied at the majesty before her. Large nodes of silver ore lie embedded in the ceiling and walls of the cave, casting an unearthly silver glow onto the pools of water swirling about down below. Unnaturally green patches of grass grow near the banks of the pools, with tiny glowing fireflies dancing merrily around them. Truly a sight to behold! But the true splendor of the cave however, lied within the grand cathedral nestled in the center of it! An ornate building whose architecture was reminiscent of something one usually sees in studies of long collapsed civilizations, it seems to have been constructed using a peculiar white marble material. Logging these observations away in the back of her mind to mull over later, Silverwing begins following the ancient path leading up to the cathedral. Approaching the finely carved platinum doors with a purpose to her step, Silverwing grabs each handle with her tiny claws, and after a small moment of hesitation, pries them open..

Silverwind is a member of the Scribes of the Silvered Star, and temporarily joined the dragons of this lair while on pilgrimage in search of an ancient artifact. The Scribes of the Silvered Star is a secret organization well hidden from the rest of the world that consists entirely of fae dragons, and was founded upon the discovery of an ancient cathedral located deep in the earth. Constantly shrouded in a veil of silver light, this temple seems to be a relic of an ancient civilization that’s long since passed. The inside of the temple houses many strange machinery and relics entirely too advanced to have belonged to any of the civilizations of the current era, which lends further support to this theory. But not every mystery can remain unsolved forever, and it is for this purpose that the Scribes of the Silvered Star exist! It is within these walls where the members of the Silvered Star are constantly working to uncover the mysteries of the temple, studiously observing and studying the various magic artifacts, materials, enchantments, and technology that lie there. It is even rumored that within the deepest part of the temple, fragments of the Silvered Star itself can be found; small shards of a comet that fell to the earth long ago, each piece holding unparalleled magical power. These fragments are also the very reason why the organization was formed! For what easier way for the world to fall into ruin then to leave such raw power uncontained?

But rumors oftentimes remain just that: rumors. Only the highest members of the order are permitted entry into to the inner sanctum, and none would dare reveal the secrets within to anyone lower.

A fae who is given the choice of joining the Scribes of the Silvered Star and chooses to accept the offer must realize that their entire life must be devoted to uncovering the truth of the temple, recording all of their findings onto a ledger that is then stored in the archives to be read by the other members. Young recruits are primarily tasked with researching the multitude of magical artifacts and advanced technologies that can be found within the temple’s halls, and after they have loyally contributed to the cause for 8 years they are permitted entry into the inner sanctum, where they will then be sent on a pilgrimage by the Grand Scribe to locate one of the Fragments of the Silvered Star. Today marks the 8th year that Silverwind has served the Scribes of the Silvered Star, and as she passes through the familiar hallways of the temple, Silverwind is struck with a pang of excitement at the thought of finally being allowed into the Inner Sanctum! With a polite nod toward the sentries guarding the doorway, the Fae pushes past the massive mythril doors leading to the cathedral’s center, and not even her most intricate imaginings of what lied beyond those doors could have prepared her for the glorious and awe inspiring silver comet shards that have been bound to the alter in the center of the room, glowing with a peculiar radiance. Turning her attention to the Grand Scribe beckoning her to the alter, Silverwind nervously trudges forward as the old fae starts speaking.
“I commend you for your years of service to the Scribes of the Silvered Star, my faithful disciple. The earth holds many secrets upon it, and those secrets belong only to those who would search for it. Even now, whispers of another comet shard landing somewhere in the west reaches my ears. Now go my child, and let not yourself be tempted by the bewitching power of that silver light!”

PRESENT DAY
That fateful day where I was given the task of finding a shard of the Silvered Star is still fresh in my mind, though months have passed since I left the temple. Since then I have slept through the cold, lonely nights of the Southern Icefield, braved the sweltering heat of the Ashfall Waste, and finally ended up in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. I have heard tales of the dragons here being oracles, and after some asking around I was told to travel to the Black Gulch Emporium. There I met an oracle named Raindancer who told me that a strange magical energy has been felt emanating from the Starfall Isles. Forseeing a great calamity descending on the world of dragons due to this strange power, Raindancer decides to accompany me in order to prevent it from ever happening. To get to the Starfall Isles Raindancer told me we must pass through the Scarred Wasteland, a vile place filled with merciless scavengers, massive boneyards, and deadly diseases.
Raindancer was right, the harsh climate of the Plaguelands was not something to take lightly. Already exhausted from the arid climate and the lack of water, it was just our luck that we walked straight into an ambush by a pack of feral Mirrors. Trying desperately to fend off our attackers, it was clear to every dragon there that we were fighting a losing battle; Raindancer suffering some severe gashes along her flank along with some wicked incisions around her neck, and I getting one of my wings nearly torn off while trying to help her. Just when the cold talons of death seemed to be growing ever present, we were miraculously saved by a second group of dragons. As the last of the Mirrors were chased off by these new dragons, an Imperial dragon, who I could only assume was their leader, approached us and introduced himself as Mirewalker. Seeing the sorry state we were in Mirewalker offered us a place in his lair to recover, saying that the unforgiving wilds of the Scarred Wasteland was no place for an injured dragon. I suppose Raindancer and I could stay with them, just for a while.
