Azaran

Azaran is everyone's kind old grandfather.

Azaran is one of those dragons that is old in body, but young in spirit. He is the oldest dragon in the clan by no small amount of time with only one exception, and some days the cold and the damp seep into his old bones and he will spend the morning curled next to the embers of a fire to nap. His feathers are a little dull and a little tattered, and his voice no longer quite so melodic as it used to be, having dropped into a low, gravelly rasp. He doesn't see as well as he used to, and spotting him peering near-sightedly through his spectacles in a common sight.

He can often be found just off to the side of any clan activity, be it farming or tunneling or story-telling or tending wounds after a skirmish, supervising quietly, and there to provide practical advice and assistance if it is required, though he no longer hunts or fishes for the clan on account of his advancing age.

He has infinite patience for hatchlings, and a willingness to lend an ear to any of the problems of growing up they might have. More than that, he has a million stories. He might not be the clan story-teller, but he knows all the old legends, and has collected a hundred anecdotes of day-to-day life in the clan, and can recount to any youngster the trouble their parents, and their grandparents, and sometimes their great grandparents, used to get up to, which the hatchlings enjoy enormously.

Azaran might not be conventionally wise, or what one might imagine of the eldest dragon in a clan, having a sense of fun and mischief to rival a much younger dragon.
