It's All For Them

A scientist through and through, Shriek is utterly dedicated to learning all she can about the Shade. Her vast collection of artifacts from the Coliseum and her travels can attest to her thirst for knowledge. She knows that the more she learns about the Shade and the more exposure she has to its influence, the more likely it is that she will be caught in its grasp - if it hasn't already. She has at least four contingency plans in place at all times for such an event, while Rem has a further five that Shriek has deliberately not been informed of.

She secludes herself from the rest of the clan along with her artifacts, which are tightly sealed away within her lab which lies in a secret location outside of the Sisters. Her research is somewhat respected by the clan, even if she herself is not offered that same respect by most - rumours about the malevolence she's surely up spread like wildfire when she's been spotted around town, and even more when she's not been seen for a while. Though the leaders of the clan do their best to correct and quash the rumours when they can, knowing all too well how it feels to be the subject of a cruel false rumour of wrongdoing, it's a losing battle. Said rumours rarely reach Shriek, but she barely acknowledges them anyway when they do.

Though she'd never describe them as friends, she does have a few dragons whose company isn't a total nuisance. She wouldn't have any assistants if she couldn't tolerate their presence and they hers in equal measure, and the Shade victims who've made it out into the clan tell of her kindness and patience, often shocked that she's thought so poorly of. Outside her lab, Lumpy is a loyal colleague and fellow scientist; they often exchange their findings when they meet and Lumpy also bears the brunt of caring for her patients should an emergency arise, while the local bone keeper Cheryl and her assistant Genevieve are vital sources of information for her studies, as the shade leaves its mark on even the bones.
