Biography
Keil
3rd Generation Pure-bred Imperial
3rd Generation Pure-bred Imperial
From the very first step she could take, as far as her memory went, she remembered the earth and the skies. Standing still and spinning as fast as her tiny little legs would allow her, the puffy clouds and blue blending together into a hazy vision before she fell backwards onto the soft, delightfully cool grass, disoriented and laughing joyfully.
“Keil! No! Come back down here. Oh, goodness, that child, at least she has spirit,” her mother grumbled, lifting her heavyset body off the ground with a powerful heave, wings large enough to engulf the moon (at least, from the tiny hatchling’s view) giving one flap, two flaps, until the vivacious troublemaker giggled and ducked back under the well-trimmed vines swaying over a gaping entrance to their home.
Home.
Such a short, but such a sweet time to be where she was born. She remembered gazing at her brother gourging soil out of the ground viciously as if it were a deadly enemy, and then another dragon chuckling and redirecting his efforts. But no, no, she wanted to be free, in the sky, seeing the world, not spending her life digging and digging and digging for nothing. She wanted to see all the beautiful earth had to offer.
A loud crack that resonated through her fragile body, her little shriek that alerted mother and father and half of the clan, oh, that one of the eggs was hatching. The birds chirping so excitedly as if nature itself was holding its breath when the shell broke and the first sound that came out? A peep.
Her younger sister... as she matured day after day, the melodies blossoming from her throat made the whole world stand still. Her brother, mellowing out, turned the coarsest earth into soft, fertile areas where life began to flourish. The passion they had. The respect they earned.
The middle child...
She was fascinated with nature, but not enough to lay still and dedicate her energy to the life around her. She was a wild soul, growing stronger and stronger as she bounced across endless fields and crashed through forests, scaring off any wary animal with her roars of joy and freedom.
New smells. New sights. She itched to discover more.
What a life to be so carefree!
So, naturally, one day, as she returned home breathless from her adventuring, a strange dragon was stationed there. A dragon that was as dark as night, with pure gold coursing through her veins. Keil halted, and stared steadily at the lone guardian. The guardian dipped its head, and, lo and behold, her very parents emerged from the clearing!
“My child.” Her mother brought her into a warm embrace. “So many times I wondered where you’d wandered off to, I joked you would someday find the ends of the universe. And perhaps you will, with your courage and speed.” Withdrawing, she smiled proudly at Keil. “I know you will bring so much life to your new clan. It is time to spread your wings and fly as far as they will allow you.” The ancient Imperial craned her neck to look at Kintsugi, a trader from the far off lands of the Flamecaller.
“You watch this one, or she might just give your explorers a run for their treasure.”
The guardian nodded once again, bowing respectfully to Solemn and Aster before looking up into Keil’s eyes. She dropped a hefty bag of jewels for the leader, and discussed the location of where Keil should depart to before she vanished in a column of fire. Just like that.
Astounding, overwhelmed, bursting, Keil stood speechless, grinning at her parents goofily. It really was time.
Time to find another home.
