Biography
Astarte is part of the first generation of Gaolers born outside of the Ice domain. Her father Morah, a traveling Seeker, had set out in the direction of Earth territory. He reasoned that the Pillar of the World, being one of the most ancient monuments and having such importance in Sornieth would be a target for the Shade. His theory proved correct, and the Earth domain became his new hunting grounds. Already a traveler, the nomadic way of the Earth flight suited him well, and he soon found himself a part of a clan. Other Seekers seemed to have the same idea about the Shade being a threat to the Pillar of the World, and eventually other Gaolers, although rare, became a more common component to Earth clans, enough so that Morah found a mate in a fellow Seeker.
Astarte, born an Earth dragon was something of a spectacle to ancient and modern breeds alike. As she grew older however the novelty soon wore off as Gaolers of non-ice elements became a familiar sight. Her father trained her in the ways of a Seeker, but unlike many other Gaolers, opted to do this himself rather than send his child back to his home territory. Earth was his home now and he wanted his child to experience a freer childhood than he had.
Astarte certainly grew up with a different outlook on life than most Gaolers. She still wanted to be a seeker, knowing it to be a noble cause, but to her it was also an adventure. Outgoing and carefree, she contrasted greatly with other Seekers, and thus was more comfortable in the company of modern breeds. As she matured she expressed a desire to leave Earth and seek out her own place in the new world. Morah supported her in this, and so she started her journey, with the same purposeful fervor of a Guardian. She let her path be that of her prey, going where the Shade was thickest and moving on when she had done her duty. Her travels eventually led her to the college, and there she found her place. Surrounded by dragons of every creed and element, even having the company of beast clan races, she felt it was the right place to be. There was also the matter of the Shade being an ever-present threat to the college. Why was the Shade so prevalent here, when there was such a high concentration of Shade hunters? Intuition led Asarte to believe that there was something dark at play here despite the grandeur and welcoming environment of the establishment. She is very right in her suspicions.
