Biography
Gamblers were predictable. Whenever they lost, they would rave and rant about how this was the last time, yet it never was. Only a little bit of encouragement, of temptation, and they were back. All kinds passed through Gaki’s house. Grand Imperials, flighty faes. So many dragons, of all types, and yet, so few motivations. They were poor and desperate, or rich and greedy. Some came to get away, to have fun. And some, a very few, did. But in most cases? They lost. And they hated it. They would curse him, curse the game, curse each other. None of it mattered. They wanted, they were greedy, and for every dragon that lost, Gaki won. Even when all odds were against him, Gaki seemed to pull through. It was an odd phenomina. Many dragons accused him of cheating, but none could ever prove it. Of course , they weren’t wrong. Gaki did, in fact, have a metaphorical ace up his sleeve. He could always call a bluff, always seemed to fold at the right time. Every move was perfect. Still, Gaki was not appeased. He sought more, like so many dragons that passed through his house. He wanted what he could never have, and it left him bitter. He enjoyed taking from other dragons. The feeling of despair, their poisonous thoughts, it made him feel a little better about his own poisonous, treacherous thoughts. What he wanted was what his ‘brother’ had. The other spiral was perfect, and Gaki hated it. And the worst part? His dear brother didn’t see it. The other truly, honestly, thought Gaki was fine. In fact, Suzhen loved Gaki. And that only made the black spiral even more bitter. His brother was perfect to everyone, even Gaki. Sometimes Gaki escaped to his house just to remind himself how dragons truly were. They were dirty, corrupt, impure. They would eat you alive if you didn’t take them down first. Their thoughts muddled with intoxicating drinks and a lust for power. Suzhen wouldn’t last a minute here. He wouldn’t last a minute as a king either. His subjects would take his blindness for weakness, and take advantage of his tender heart. What the kingdom really needed was someone like Gaki. Someone who knew the evils of the world, and could manipulate them. Someone who could never be fooled. Who saw past every try at deceit. He would read his opponents like a book. This is what Gaki wanted, this power. But his want would stay just that, and Gaki knew it. He had seen what the king thought of him. In his eyes, Gaki was nothing. And the sweet, perfect son was the only option in the king’s eyes. And so, Gaki would want, and he would lose, in all the ways that mattered to him. |
