Galathea

Galathea was not born a Gaoler.

Once a happy Spiral born to loving parents in the clan, she was sent away to slumber, perhaps to awaken for travel to another flight. However, one day the young Spiral dragon stirred, drawn back by an ancient force that beckoned her from the caves in which she dwelled with others of the clan. She found a tattered old scroll outside, picking it up out of sheer curiosity.

Agony speared through her the moment her claws touched the paper, body and mind warping as magic forced a transformation upon her - although perhaps 'reversion' is a more apt description. Guards alerted by her screams found a hulking, dazed Gaoler outside the hibernal quarters. She was able to recall her name - Galathea - but did not fully recognize her parents when the pair came to visit. Gone was the bubbly, sweet Spiral, replaced by a stern Gaoler who named herself a Seeker.

She and Tethyan, the clan's second Gaoler, are called 'trenchwalkers', owing not to their birth element, but their colouration, evoking a sense of the deepest parts of the ocean... and a certain otherness not possessed by modern breeds. Galathea does not interact with any dragon outside of the ruling pair and her own mate, claiming an area around the clan's hibernal den as her own. Trespassers from the clan are given a punishment and severe warning to stay away; strangers receive no quarter.
