Mantle spent the majority of his life serving as a valiant warrior of his tribe residing in the Rotrock Rim. Raised in the art of war since his hatching, the Mirror has defended his clan against many adversaries — sometimes single handedly, sometimes alongside his fellow dragon, but each time it
was Mantle who landed the final blow.

When a representative of the clans united under the Plaguebringer and siding with her decision to bring more of Sornieth under Her domain, Mantle was expected to fall in line with the rest of his clan mates, to accept his Deity's words and to serve her without question. But the young dragon had found his individuality from the hive mind that was his clan and refused the offer. He was labeled a traitor and his clan turned on him immediately. Mantle fought his way through the hoard and fled to the Abiding Boneyard, then to the Wandering Contagion...no matter where he hid, the dogged dragons of his clan and others who were notified of his treachery hounded the Mirror until he was forced to flee the Scarred Wasteland entirely.

Beaten and exhausted from the constant running and fighting he had to endue while he escaped the Plaguebringer's domain, Mantle was granted refuge in the territory of the Seeker dragons. Lead by a towering, dark-hide Guardian who was also waging his own war against the Plaguebringer's onslaught, it was a wonder to Mantle how the clan's leader could welcome a beast such as himself with open arms, though he was keenly aware that a vast amount of the other elemental dragons residing there, and even Ji'Bassa himself, were extremely wary of his presence. Eventually, through rigorous displays of his battle skills and things that won the trust of the masses, Mantle began his role as serving as a representative of the Plague clans who opposed the Plaguebringer's actions.
