Lyric never knew their parents. They were adopted before they even hatched, raised by a pair of eccentric (but loving) elves. Their adoptive parents ran a very successful tavern, and they spent much of their youth there. They had a large family- their parents, the tavern employees, the tavern's regulars, and the adventurers who would tell them stories of their exploits. They learned to talk by mimicking the folks around them, and learned to 'sing' by mimicking the bands who would play every night.

Lyric is energetic and enthusiastic, a real extrovert. They enjoy being around people. They especially like performing for people, and playing jokes on their friends- they're happy to waste a spell slot on a joke. They're the quintessential bard, super charismatic (even with being a bird) and happy to spend a night with a stranger if they're pretty enough. They never learned to actually play an instrument, they just mimic the sounds of instruments or voices. They're agender and present androgynous most of the time, unless it benefits them to present another way.

Their grandest adventure was a quest for the very goddess they worshipped- Desna, goddess of dreams. Someone was stealing bits of her soul from the dreams of mortals, and she asked them to help her. She sent them through dream after dream, and in one Lyric met Adrian- another bard, apprenticed to the man killing the goddess. Their adventure ended with his master dead and Adrian in Desna's realm, and Lyric with a way to visit. Many years later, after the rest of the party had fallen, Lyric finally falls- they go out with a smile on their face, knowing someone's waiting for them.
