Quinn’s heart pounded painfully against their ribs. Twigs and scrubs caught their clothes and scratched across their skin. They didn’t dare to turn their head to look behind them, just continued running. Tears welled up in their eyes. Why them? What had they done wrong? Where had they failed? Why were they about to die? They stumbled out onto a clearing. If they were fast enough, maybe they could… Right behind them, the crimson Guardian broke through the trees. There was no time. This was it. It was time for Quinn to meet their inevitable fate.
Personality
|
Even though Quinn was born a male, their androgynous appearance leaves most dragons unaware of their gender. Quinn doesn’t mind at all, most of the time identifying as neither male nor female. They have an air of regality about them, but inwardly, they are shy and insecure. They feel like they let their people down and are responsible for all the bad things that happened ever since then. They have a certain degree of trained charisma, but have great difficulties with any kind of interaction that is not of political nature. Qunn adores art and music. They love to listen to bards and look at paintings. Their perception when it comes to these things is remarkable. They will notice tiny nuances no one else sees and can talk for hours about a sunset they witnessed. Their education was breadth and thorough and while they are no scholar, they know a lot of things in many different areas. Especially when it comes to architecture or politics, Quinn is the right dragon to ask. |
Background
Quinn was born as the first and only child to the leading pair of a large and prosperous clan in the Southern Icefield. They grew up as a prince, receiving extensive education in arts, history, and politics. They were a kind and generous hatchling, and wad loved and supported not only by their parents, but also by the those they were about to rule one day. The lair’s territory was filled with treasure and magic. The most valuable of them all was the ruler’s scepter, an artifact from ancient times, filled with mighty theurgy. It was passed down from generation to generation, and when it was Quinn's time to ascend the throne, they too would wield it. But others knew of the scepter’s power and craved to hold it in hands. A group of assassins set out to take the royal family’s lives… and they aimed for Quinn first. Kind and queen sent their child away for Quinn’s own safety. During the night, Quinn left the lair with two bodyguards to hide and only return once the threat was averted. But things didn’t go as planned. Only shortly after Quinn left their parents’ lair behind, the small group was attacked by their pursuers. One of the bodyguards was killed on the spot, Quinn and the other one only escaped barely. They made their way through the Southern Icefield, constantly being chased by those who wanted to see the heir to the throne dead. Just when the two refugees made their way to the Starfall Isles, they were attacked again. The other bodyguard fell, but took a large part of the assailants with him. Quinn was alone and fled again, with no goal other than to survive. They managed to lose their pursuers on Starwood Strand. However, another foe awaited them. Unknowing of the conflict that was boiling between the Crystalspine Reaches, Quinn turned approached one of Claudius’ followers, asking for help. They were attacked and almost killed. It was their luck that just in that moment, a pair of mercenaries made their way through the sky and decided to help. When Quinn came back to his senses, they were alive and in safety at the caves of the Rose Spar. |
Relationships
Quinn does not remember much about their arrival in the Rose Spar. However, they know that Miori is the reason they ended up there. They are incredibly thankful Miori took it as her duty to make them feel at home. After having lost everything and after the fear of their journey, Quinn clung on to her and was met with patience and kindness. They are fascinated by Miori’s artistic talent and enjoy watching her creating something new and amazing. |
