___Children of the alchemist and the assassin will often find that their parents are too distant to be anything more than solemn mentors. One parent, an alchemist absorbed in her work, and another, an assassin fleeing xeir fate, will never be the role models their hatchlings want them to be.

Not that their parents don’t try to be as loving and as doting as possible, it’s just that, well, when there is a guild of assassins that operate in the shadowy corners of Sorineth out for the blood of both their parents, staying safe does seem be at the top of the list of priorities here.

It is an unkind existence. Unfortunately, it is also a necessary one.
