Helios had been hatched as a part of a mass dragon hatchery run by Project, with the sole purpose of mass hatching dragons for their own use. The fact she didn't die was a miracle, as sickness ran rampant and crowded conditions often left hatchlings to resort to fighting over food and even eating their own kind as to survive in the dingy place. Helios was taken from her mother before she even had the chance to make her pearl after the people of Project fell in love with her bright colors and black, shiny body. It was during her artificial modifications that she had regurgitated her pearl, and in her sedated state, her pearl was taken from her and replaced with an artificial one, capable of storing data.
With that, her role within Project became that of a storage unit, where valuable information would be stored in her pearl via other dragons loyal to Project, and could be read back to the people of Project by her. She was forced to follow the highest members of Project, and act as a decoration for them when she was not in use. This, of course, came with mental repercussions. Helios wanted to do more with her life than be a decorative storage unit, but in her mind she knew she would never be able to do such a thing because her real pearl had been taken and most likely destroyed, destroying with it any chance she had of forming a social life outside of Project, and even then she was looked down upon by her fellow Pearlcatchers within Project for her “fake” pearl.
Helios first encountered Fl/ght when she was kidnapped during a Rescue and Infiltration mission carried out by them, knowing she was a valuable source of intelligence. Rather than trying to fight, she was interested in their organization, having heard about them as rebels that were former Project members. She wanted nothing more than to do something with her life, and took the opportunity to join Fl/ight rather than be returned to Project. She quickly joined the Intelligence Unit, her pearl having held years old information from when it was first given to her and her close contact with the leaders of Project making her invaluable.
Now, Helios is a devout member of Fl/ight, working diligently within Intelligence to continue to acquire and store information, as her pearl seems to have terabytes upon terabytes of storage space, and can most likely be used for storage for many more years. Her past connections also make it easy for her to access Project databases with little suspicion. She knows this privilege will soon become less and less effective the more time she spends away from Project, and is currently learning the skills necessary to hack and the social skills she needs to forge necessary alliances, including the confidence she needs in the wake of not having her birth pearl.
