Generation 14
Birth Lair Adhelt

I am a Night Warrior! If you're interested in knowing more about the generations project that is my heritage, please click the button!

- Hatched with an attitude- word is he almost took off the claw of the nursery worker who was attending his nest.
- Was placed under Foen's watch upon arrival in the lair. Even her quick tongue and stern hand weren't enough to keep him in check all the time.
- Once he aged out of the hatchery, Foen matter-of-factly marched him over to the other Night Warriors and handed him off to Galaxy and the lead clan trainer Bamboo.
- His training wasn't easy. Bamboo and Galaxy would turn on him as quick as the beastclans they fought if he got too hotheaded.
- A week under their tutelage, and mingling with the other Warriors when home, he finally came to see that his anger and attitude were best aimed at the beastclans, although he still starts the occasional squabble.
- Would often take off alone when he had a chip on his shoulder, just so he could rough up some beastclan members.

Your legs shake only a little as you step off the main boat into the smaller carrier boat with several of your teammates. Your stomach lurches as the sailors drop the rope by a foot, the sailors having a laugh at your expanse before lowering you into the water.

It’s a short ride from here to shore, the stoic Gaoler standing point at the front-most boat. Looking across the water at the opposite team, you notice a black and gold Pearlcatcher at the helm of their forward-most boat. You remember him overlooking attendance, nodding like an old boss you had that was never truly paying attention to what was going on, but not much else.

You land on shore, and you don’t even have time to wait for the other two boats before you’re ushered towards a wooden stage of some kind. Some dragons with polaroid-style cameras take photos as you pass by, documenting the arrival of the contestants. You see a scribe take the left side of the stage, hurriedly preparing a series of notebooks as the Gaoler who you stood next to takes the right side of stage. Finally the Pearlcatcher takes center stage, whispering to the phtalo dragon as you all wait for everyone to show up.

Once everyone arrives, the Pearlcatcher claps his hands together in a dramatic fashion, most of the dragons falling quiet in suit, the others reducing their voices to whispers.

“Welcome everyone, to… Thriver! As you may remember!” He chuckles. “My name is Lionheart, and I’ll be your host for this survival challenge!”

Wait, that’s not right. Isn’t the name of the person who normally hosts Thriver Geoff?

“In this daring game of thriving, you’ll be pitted not only against your opposing team, but also against the elements of the wild as you fight to come out on top!”

You try to shake off the strange sensation he gives you—maybe the original host fell ill? Lionheart proceeds to describe how for tonight, you’ll all have to make your own shelter for the night, and that you should spend this time getting to know your new teammates, yada yada… You stick out your chest instinctively as Lionheart locks eyes with you for a moment, knowing in your heart that you will give your all for this competition.

Relentless rousts his wings and re-settles them, wondering what happened to the former host. Deciding to be wary of Lionheart, he calls Rowl to him and waits until the cat is up on his back before moving off in search of building materials. Might as well get started on shelter as he observed the others on the island.

Both teams, weary of their opposition and nervous of their allies, start getting ready to build shelter before the night arrives to smother them like a blanket. Some dragons choose to buddy up with, and get to know their new allies; others decide to make their own accommodations deeper in the woods, giving themselves more privacy but leaving themselves more vulnerable in the act.

The Thriver team merely watches and records their actions, taking no measure to intervene in the teams antics, only observe.

On Plague team, it’s Relentless who takes the lead in gathering materials and building shelter, and it doesn’t take long for Dorian to pitch in, eager to contribute. Relentless is gruff and a bit short-tempered, but Dorian is a quick learner, and it doesn’t take long until they’re building something passable to provide shelter.

Plague herself joins in soon after, helping with some of the detail work larger dragons struggle with and making friendly banter. Dorian and Plague chat along amicably, and Hallongrotta soon joins suit, having grabbed some sturdier branches she found deeper in the woods. She places the branches down gingerly, her arms aching from what little she could manage to bring back to camp. She tries to join in to help, but is surprised when Suil lays a gentle hand on her shoulder.

“Stay strong. Save your strength,” she says kindly, having noticed the Wildclaw’s shaking hands. “Save that energy for tomorrow.” She can’t help but want to watch out for Hallongrotta as she takes the smaller dragon’s place in gathering supplies, allowing her to rest. The other dragons are clearly weary of the multi-eyed Nature dragon, but say nothing as they accept her help in finishing their shelter for the night.

Plague was indeed enjoying herself, having insinuated herself into the company of a handful of other Plague teamers who were proving to be an interesting lot. As she worked on the tasks to which she was most suited in setting up camp, she idly wondered what would happen if she tried to make the blue imp smile. It didn’t look like it would take much to get him to fight. She’d be willing to bet he would relish it! Ha, just let him underestimate her! But now was not the time.
Rel wrote:
Relentless felt eyes on him and turned his gaze to his team mates. Plague was looking at him - through multiple eyes! His jaw dropped a moment, still in awe? shock? of those with so many eyes. He quickly regained his composure and realized she seemed familiar somehow. A gentle breeze blew in, and he recognized the scent. One of the other Warriors had the same scent when he joined the clan. Hmmm, an ally perhaps?

He turned his gaze to Hallongrotta, her body still pulsing. It did not escape his attention that Suil had helped her earlier. For a moment, he felt empathy, and wondered if the healers back home could help her somehow. She'd be one to keep an eye on.

Suil was another multi-eyed beauty. Her eyes seemed to look everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Though kindness shown in her, he hoped her birth Flight wouldn't cause problems with the team in the coming days.

Resettling himself after scooping up Rowl, he turned his attention to Dorian. This was the first Aberration he'd seen, as none had joined the clan before he set off on this journey. He idly wondered what it would be like to have two heads as he stroked the lynx. As his mind wandered down that track, the faintest hint of a smile came to his lips.

Relentless was shaken from his reverie as Plague gave everyone the news. He sighed. Two less competitors, but at what cost?

The first morning of the true competition is full of sleepy hellos and idle chatter. The members of each team co-mingle, doing their best not to let their nerves show. They know the enemy is not so far away; best not to show any weakness.

A little before noon, the Thriver crew gathers both teams and leads them a mile down the beach to where the first competition is to be held. Lionheart is standing by the shore, looking over the sea with a bored expression. When he notices the teams approaching, he at least makes the effort to look interested, drawing his shoulders straight and giving a wry smile as they all approach.

He greets them all warmly enough, Lylas the Gaoler beside him as he gives everyone a hearty welcome, clapping his hands together as he says the word “Welcome!” He explains that they’ll be playing a game of agility and puzzle-solving. The goal will be to construct an image from a set of blocks piled up at the bottom of the stage, and balance it on a board on top of the stage. The stage is set at an incline and is slippery, so dragons will have to climb up the rope provided to reach the board to place the puzzle pieces; no flying allowed.

The other teammates will have to work together to keep pressure on a bar that will hold the board level, allowing the blocks to be placed on them; releasing the pressure will cause the board to tip and the puzzle pieces to fall onto the slick platform and slide back down to the ground below.

As Lionheart finishes up his explanation, a small plague-like veilspun can be scene with a ropes in its paws, and held in its teeth attached with a frost delver who is recording the entire event to be put into the Thriver shows records. The frost delver wobbles and shifts back and forth, trying to get down but every once and a while the veilspun bonks its top hatch to get it to stop. The Plague reps huddle, but its not long before arguing breaks out. Soon, not too far on the beach, Nature and the Thriver host hear a shouting match begin. Some of the stronger ones begin to argue they should weigh down the board, the smarter ones argue they should assemble the pieces together, and some of the more agile ones argue they should do the climbing to pass along the pieces.

Lionheart walked over to their group, calmly asking them to calm down. "Contestants, please calm yourselves!" He says directly. "I don't think you realise it, but it seems that you're all arguing in favour of filling out the positions, so is there anything truly, really, to argue about? Allow me to help you decide!" He continues on, drawing four lines in the sand and asking constants to step into the lines that applied to the rolls he slots them in for. The reps all chuckled, soon realising it was a silly argument to have had in the first place when they were all essentially arguing to get their spots anyways! Lionheart smiled along, thinking to himself of the hope he still had to help these reps along a journey to putting more trust in one another, and teaching the world really wasn't a reality of needing to be alone and fending for yourself.

The veil pulls along the delver as each contestant gets into their position, floating around with every new movement or exciting activity...

Vainglory, Relentless, and Krill are the first to the game area, floating and walking up to the board to keep it balanced. They notice that it begins to wobble underneath them, but soon figure out that the board is balanced only from a centre point. Because of this, at relatively the same time, they all walk out to near the edges of the platform. Vainglory walks to and then sits at the very top middle section, Relentless walks to and sits on the bottom left corner section, and Krill does the same for the right side. Successful smiles takeover their faces, they all silently agree that if they notice the board shifting, to move in unison with a call to ensure things are less challenging for those who complete the puzzle.

As the sound is fired off to begin the challenge, seeing the brains of the operation in their spot, the more agile dragons begin to sprint down the play area to grab the pieces and run them back as fast as they can. "Don't exhaust yourselves!" Plague calls. "For the first few runs just push yourself to a point you're going fast but not enough to wear you out!" Arashi and Chosen turn their heads to the dragon in the middle of them and nod as they continue going on. Plague and Arashi with all of their decorations and pieces of apparel fall behind quickly as Chosen darts ahead, very little to call apparel on herself.

She grabs the first piece, Plague the second, Arashi the third, so on and so forth until they get all of their pieces stacked up at the bottom of the walkway up to the platform. Figuring those putting it together can come down and grab them, and putting their trust in Vain, Rel, and Krill to get the board balanced appropriately to accommodate. The three of them still, however, sit off to the side in anticipation and encouragement, offering to lend a hand if the other three putting things together need it.

The three labelled as the brains of the operation walk over to the area just off the puzzle board, examining the board's shape, and the look of the puzzle on the small map they are provided. Deciphering very quickly that it was of course the Nature exalt pillar. Easy enough! After watching the stronger dragons get their bearings, and the runners get all of the pieces to them, they begin to head down the platform grabbing each piece and bringing it up the walkway and onto the platform where it belonged.

"Okay..." Hallogrotta says. "How about we grab the pieces and stack them in the middle right about where the beam is to balance the platform, and take them off one by one to place down edges first and go from there based on the picture?" She is very abruptly caught off guard while speaking by Suil and Dorian making stacks of each of their own pieces just off to either side. She sighs, placing her own pieces where she instructed to to make sure balanced was kept to help the three dragons on the edges.

"This works!" Dorian adds. "Mhm!" Suil agrees. "It makes it so we don't have to fly to grab them, since it's not allowed! Plus, we can do three pieces at a time without worrying about the pile toppling over!" Hallogrotta puts a piece into her paws. with edges on it. "Huh, I didn't think about that! Good idea!" With teamwork in place, and others worrying about the wobbles, the three of them put the pieces together in order, and shout at the runners to sprint and cross the finish line to get their work checked.

The Nature team is distraught. Not only have they lost the first game, but now Locte has gone missing. Some try to volunteer to go find Locte, but the Thriver team discourages them; it’s dark, and they’re all exhausted from a long day. Best not to lose anyone else.

The Thriver team goes out and searches for Locte as both teams settle back in for the night. When morning comes, Lylas comes and greets the Nature team. He assures the worried team that Locte is safe, but that he collapsed on the way back to camp, and is being looked at. (Ieva’s antennae tells her something isn’t right about Lylas’ story, but before she can call him out, he’s gone, and the team is left to mull on their chances to complete the game, now short two players.)

Come noon, the Thriver crew come and collect the two teams, leading them a new game area, where two walls of balloons have been set up high in the sky. Lionheart sits in front of a stand with different sized balls covered in spikes.

The game is simple enough: take a spiked ball (the size determined by how big you are), fly up, and throw it at the wall of balloons. Whichever team destroys the most balloons wins the challenge. (“Just don’t throw the ball so far you lose it. You lose it, you buy it,” Lionheart says dryly. Some dragons laugh, but most aren’t sure if he’s joking or not.)

“And,” he rounds off the lecture, “since Nature team is short two members, you may choose two individuals to throw two balls instead of one.” Clapping his hands together, he beams at the dragons surrounding him. “Alright, Thivers, go!”

The Plague team look at one another, still high off their victory from the day prior. As they grab their balls, they talk with confidence on how they’ll win this game too. (“Let’s squash those Nature insects!” Krill yells triumphantly, drawing a few stares from the Nature team. A few members of Plague jeer at them before focusing back at the task at hand, the Veilspun from the day prior recording them.)

First goes up the biggest dragons—Relentless and Suil—to throw their balls, each large ball taking out big chunks of the balloon wall. Next comes Krill, who also pops a fair number of balloons, and the Plague team cheers as the wall is reduced to only about a quarter of the balloons left.

Chosen chooses to go after Krill, then Vainglory (begrudgingly). As the other dragons chatter excitedly, many feeling assured in their victory, Dorian sits farther in the back, his hands shaking as he attempts to hold up his ball. Why is he struggling all of a sudden? When Hallongrotta looks back at him, asking if he wants to go next, he gives a smile and tries to play it off, making off an excuse about wanting to go last to really show it to those darn Nature dragons! Haha!

The Wildclaw gives him a look for only a second before someone claps her on the back. She flinches but nods as they encourage her to fly up and take her turn, but her muscles shake as she struggles to hold up her ball, and she only manages to hit one balloon with her throw. Arashi and Plague make good shows of throwing their balls and popping a good number of balloons, and with 5 balloons left, all eyes turn to Dorian.

He does his best to return the expectant smiles from the rest of the group, but he knows something isn’t right as he takes flight to the throwing position. As he goes to throw the ball, his body suddenly lurches forward, and a sharp whistle lows. Dorian flinches as he’s told off for getting too close to the balloons, and he retreats backwards again. He takes a deep breath to steel himself. As he winds the ball back to throw, to his horror, his fingers release the ball against his own will, causing the dangerous object fly at his team.

With a few high-pitched screams, the whole team scatters to avoid the dangerous object, and Dorian feels himself starting to fall. He desperately tries to flap his wings to stay aloft, but the ground is coming up fast; just before he hits the ground, he looks around for anything, anyone to help him, only to lock eyes with his other head.

Which is now staring back at him.

As they hit the ground, Dorian groans as his other head begins to flail its neck, wide eyed, screaming. Dorian sees stars as his own hand comes up to sucker punch him in the face. Most of the dragons stare on in horror for a moment before a few go to rush in; some of the Plague team members go to help, but they’re held back by the Thriver crew as Lylas jumps into action, pinning the Aberration so he can no longer strike himself. Dorian’s second head bites him in the face as more members of the medical team come to help. Lylas yelling instructions to them as they attempt to stop Dorian from hurting himself.

Relentless wrote:
Relentless gathers food for the night's meal, his mind going over everything that happened in the latest game. Throwing the balls allowed him to release the frustration that had built up. While not happy about the loss, he knew it would have happened eventually. He was both thrilled and appalled that yes, the aberration heads would fight each other. He decided it'd be best to pass word on to Nightrain, the clan matriarch, when he returned home. He was sad to see Dorian go though, he wanted to learn more about the breed firsthand.

Returning to camp, he drops a rabbit and a handful of bugs near Plague. She looks at him in shock. He turns away quickly to pass out food to the others, wondering if she saw the brief smile her shock gave him.

The sun's light brought more news, Arashi had gone missing during the night. Relentless attempted to follow the tracks out of camp, but the Thriver crew forcibly stopped him. He signaled to Rowl to track as he pushed against the dragons that held him up, and relaxed once the lynx was hidden in the underbrush. It was worrisome that the crew rarely allowed anyone to search for the missing dragons. He wondered if they even really went to search when they claimed they had.
The imp slowly made his way back to the shelter, snapping at bugs that flew by in irritation. Rowl returned a short while later, the only thing the cat had found being one of the bars that had adorned Arashi's garb.
Plague wrote:
She needed a nap after they returned to camp, but it was a brief one. Her mind was awhirl. Then, to mix it up further, that grumbly big blue dude dropped off a generous heap of vittles from his evening hunt. She was shocked - it was totally unexpected! Even more was the hint of a smile she caught before he turned away. And his head didn’t explode! Maybe he wasn’t so fearsome as he acted. Maybe she could get him to open up a little, if she seized the moment. He looked like a warrior, they usually loved to talk about their battles… So that night she put off looking up Arashi and learned that Relentless was one of the Night Warriors. “No kidding! We have a bunch at WindSky Weyr, too! They don’t all stay, but they’re all super strong and clever! Well, once they’re fully trained, anyway. I could tell you a few stories about the young ones…” That got Hallongrotta and Suil interested too. And so they passed the hours until they were finally relaxed enough for a good night’s sleep.

Tensions are high as the Plague team demand to know what’s happened to Arashi. The commotion is loud enough that someone from Nature team comes and eavesdrops on the yelling, while the Thriver crew attempts to assure them that everything is fine. The empty promises are falling on deaf ears, and the situation soon degrades into a long shouting match between Lylas and Relentless. A small and frail Veilspun has to get between the two to cool them down; despite her thin, frail frame, her fury proves enough to intimidate the two into backing down for the moment.

Lylas storms off to cool down and talk to Lionheart, while the rest of the plague team puts its heads together. Now, two of their teammates have gone missing, and it’s hard not to suspect the Thriver crew to blame. Isn’t it strange that they have an unknown host for this game, with no notice the previous one had retired? Why had they only been asked to eliminate one dragon last night, but Nature had returned missing two? Was the game rigged? What else could have been going on, and what were they hiding from the contestants?

Similar doubts are being shared around the Nature camp as well, one of their own having brought back the news of Arashi’s disappearance. Those that had had their doubts about Locte’s ‘illness’ felt their suspicions were confirmed with this new information, and when the Thriver crew had its back turned, or its cameras pointed elsewhere, the Nature team began to plot a way to do their own investigation that night, when the prying eyes of the crew were looking the other way.

There’s ominous rumbling over the sea; the darkened sky and chilly wind reflect the mood of the contestants still in the game. As both teams begin to scheme on what their next move should be, they notice a familiar individual approach them.

Lionheart calls the Nature and Plague representatives from their camp to a middle section of the beach, explaining the rules to all of them at once to avoid having to repeat himself. "Alright, here is how today will work!” he claps. “You will each reach 500 gems! There will be a few things I put up on the Auction House." He says, pulling up a miniature cave-shaped home with a silver platter, and a metal hat to hide objects underneath from the wild. "Each item will be valued at 20 gems to start, you will be able to bid in 20g increments to attempt to win the item, and the maximum that can be bid will be 500g total."

He takes a deep breath, thankfully he doesn't have to explain things twice. "If multiple dragons bid the maximum, you will draw rocks. A black rock being pulled means that you've won the item, a white rock means you'll have spent 500g on a souvenir from Thriver. Sorry!" As he finishes up, each dragon asks their questions before they head back to their camps.

Lionheart heads to Plagues's camp now, quickly ushering them all into the forest one by one. After a bit of a walk, they reach a new area of the island with podium's and seating stumps conveniently placed so each dragon can have a seat. "Welcome to Gulpers Rock!" He introduces. "Alright, we all know the rules of the game so let's get this going, shall we?" He repeats from earlier.

They all quickly take a seat and the reward challenge begins! Things go fairly quickly until an exciting event takes place...

To start off the bidding, Suil buys the first hidden platter. As it is revealed, Lionheart explains Suil has a choice to make. This platter can be shared with the group and offers all 4 food types. She can share it with the group who will have 60 seconds to devour it together, or keep it to herself and take as long as she'd like to eat. She keeps it for herself.

Next up, an excitingly large hidden platter pops up. Relentless, Krill, and Chosen almost simultaneously bid 500g. They all stand up to pull rocks, Krill, Relentless, and then Chosen pick from the hidden sack. Upon revealing their paws, Relentless shows to have picked the black rock and Lionheart smiles warmly towards him as the other two sit down with their brand new rock pets.

Lionheart explains he can now steal all the gems from one other dragon, and Relentless turns, quickly pointing towards Vainglory. As he goes to sit back down, Vainglory hands him her bag of gems, unable to bid for the rest of the event almost before it even fully starts.

Another platter is put on the stand, and Lionheart takes off the lid to reveal a beautiful steaming Shadow Flight home cooked meal for the lucky winner. Almost as quickly as he got the gems, Relentless bids all of Vainglory's gems away on it, bringing the platter back to snack on happily as memories of his home territory drift softly into his mind.

Hallongrotta spends 140g next on the next visible dish put on display. Listening closely enough, dragons can hear the sizzle of the double roasted meat. Hallongrotta sits down with it, a well deserved victory in her books!

Plague is very last up to the bat. She realises if she doesn't bid and win she won't get anything. She bids on the very last hidden tray, calling out she wants to bid 20g, and no one follows suit. An easy... Victory? As the platter is revealed and the lid is removed, she finds it's a small basket of grossly chopped flowers and fish. Ew! Spirals don't eat either of those things! Ah well, when you're hungry, you've got to eat.

Lastly, Lionheart reveals anyone who had at least 20g remaining could buy letters from home, and as such Suil, Hallongrotta, and Plague take the offers. The Plaguekin head back to camp... What a day!

Upon their return Relentless waited for his familiar, Rowl, to come back again after another search, he feels frustrated when the lynx comes back with no news. The food auction was clearly just meant to distract and placate them from the more pressing issues at hand. They had more things to be concerned with than the prize money.

As he looked over his teammates, brooding or celebrating their auction success (or lack thereof), there was a part of him that felt like he needed to take action, Thriver crew be damned. He whispered instructions to Rowl, and then separated from the rest of the group to make solitary preparations.

At first, he didn’t pay it much mind when his eyes itched; it made sense for them to be a bit dry, given the winds that were starting to whip the coastline. Then, his fingers started to hurt. Maybe he had grabbed some poison ivy when clearing those vines for shelter the other day? He tried not to get worried when his knuckles and wrists started to swell. It was hard to ignore the strange symptoms though once he felt this throat starting to swell, ever so slightly, his throat whistling on every exhale.

He felt light-headed as he bent over, starting to heave to get in more oxygen. Plague came over to see what he was doing, curious as to why he was keeled over like that, when she saw how swollen his face and hands were, his eyes red and bulging. Quickly, she called for the medical team, who quickly realized that Relentless was suffering from anaphylactic shock, and he was given an emergency dose of steroids to stop the swelling. As he gasped for help, his familiar barely managed to jump onto the boat in time as the medical team prepared to take him back to the main land, where he could get proper medical treatment.

Relentless wrote:
The steroids slow to kick in, thoughts started bubbling to the surface of Relentless' mind, only to be lost before he could make sense of them. His stomach cramped and spasmed hard enough to double him over. He grunted in pain, the swelling in his throat preventing anything more than a pathetic squeak. Crumpling in a heap on the floor of the boat, he fought to keep the darkness threatening the edges of his sight at bay. He must not fai--.... Rowl pawed franticly at the dragon's face, the Thriver crew putting a new burst of speed into getting him to safety.

She was still gathering her thoughts to write, musing on events, when her gaze fell on Relentless in the distance, looking like he had fallen over on himself. She frowned, setting aside her quill and hurried over to see what was going on. She found him wheezing alarmingly and looking distinctly puffy! He was having a serious reaction to …something, that if left untreated could even kill him! So she’d heard from the Weyr’s medic, anyway, and looking at Relentless now, she could believe it. She called for help, as loud and fast as she was able, and aid arrived quickly. But it looked like she was down another ally. The letter she hadn’t quite started was forgotten completely. This wasn’t the straightforward competition she thought it would be, with more dragons missing and everyone growing increasingly tense, and muttering about escaping, as if they were prisoners. Adding to the general unrest, the weather was taking a turn for the worse!

Plague hadn’t survived the Scarred Wasteland by failing to recognize when it was time to hide out. This was clearly one of those times. However, in making herself scarce, she was distracted by what looked like a friend, just as her senses screamed danger, and then she was the one screaming, as she was abruptly dragged into the bush.

Samael and Maolin are left behind by their peers, the tengu crawling all over them, surrounding the two captured dragons with gurgling, manic laughter. The wide-eyed, blank faced dragons stare dumbly into the distance as they follow the tengus lead, some even drooling as they let their mouths hang open. The tengu warble in a language Samael and Maolin can’t understand, and at one point, the whole crowd bursts into raucous, cawing laughter as they prepare a bag of herbs, several more powerful-looking tengu wielding old, wooden staves carved with intricate, foreign symbols. On the end of the staves are ropes from which blue-hued stone balls hang from, their color shifting in a strange but mesmerizing way.
The tengu with the staves hover the stone orbs in front of the dragons faces, swinging them back and forth like a pendulum. Their gurgled, strange voices change as they regard the two captured dragons now, their voices kind but expressions cruel as the stave-wielding tengus speak to them:

“Come here, friend.” The tengu sounds just like Amethyst. It laughs.

“Come here,” says the other. Its voice sounds just like Lionhearts.

“Come here, Locte!” It sounds just like Petal. More laughter.

“Come here, Arashi,” says the first, its voice mimicking Lylas.

“Over here,” they mock again, imitating Dorian.

Every time the struggling dragons attempt to close their eyes or look away, the little tengu force their eyes open with their sharp fingers, and slowly but surely, Samael and Maolin begin to fall into a trance, their heads and eyes following the stone orbs. Back and forth, left to right, left to right, left to right, left to right, left to right,
