______ LI slashed down at the male in front of me. He barely dodged in time to miss getting a face full of claws. I leapt into the air pumping my wings a few times before raining down on the male in front of me with quick slashes. He used his armored wingplate to block his body from my vicious attacks. I heard a chirping sound from the male under me and immediately stopped my attack a soft panting escaping from my jaws. I helped my fellow guard up from the training floors before saying my goodbyes and heading to my den. Once I was in the safety of my own space did I allow my mind to wander. It had been awhile since the last attack the palace had undergone. Which pretty much meant things had been pretty boring for me. Sure that might be a bit sick of me to say but it's my job to protect the King and Queen, which is a great honor sure but it can be incredibly boring. I mean all I do is stand around all day and watch them do Kingly and Queenly things. Most of the time I just stand guard in the throne room and listen to other dragons complain. And let me tell you that job is the worst.

______ SI swear though I always have the worst luck when it comes to actually getting a shot in battle. The last time something exciting happened was a few weeks ago when the queen almost fell from the palace walls. Sure she ended up fine but I wish I could have been there to help. It should have been me really. I was supposed to be following the King and Queen around that day but during my morning training a newbie came into the ring while my friend and I were fighting. I had to jump in front of the idiot before he could get seriously hurt. Sadly though I was the only one that walked out with an injury and no glory. I know the whole point of my job is to protect the King and Queen from danger but these days there weren't even many opportunities to do so. So I went through the same boring routine day in and day out. Hopefully soon I would finally get the chance to prove my worth to my King and Queen.
