Dragon Log

This young one came as quite a shock to the Clan, as she was born under the strangest magical circumstances imaginable. Moments after the Clan’s (at the time) newest addition had hatched as a Fae Male from a recently arrived Plague Egg, a previously dormant Ice Egg at the edge of the Nursery began to rock gently in its cradle. No one noticed this at first, as the Plague Fae was putting on a much more entertaining show, pulsing with magical energy, and literally changing not only his eyes, but his very Breed…into something never before seen in the Clan, or even referenced in the Clan’s Library! The Ice Egg was not to be ignored, however, and its rocking increased in intensity as each minute passed, helped along by a increasing powerful surge of magical energy that had been sweeping periodically through the caves over the last few days.

By the time the new male dragon had been shown to a spot in the Nursery where he could bed down and rest, the Egg had begun to shatter…and the same magical glow that had surrounded the once-Fae burst out of it in an eerie, blue-white light. Several dragons of the Clan present at the time swear that the resultant female hatchling originally looked like a Guardian, but no one is absolutely certain, as it was hard to see anything through the intense glow that surrounded her even as she took her first breath outside her Egg. And when the glow faded, what was revealed was not a Guardian, or even another Fae, but rather a second new Breed hatchling with Uncommon Eyes! The Clan is still trying to figure out what this means…

6-8-19: However odd this new hatchling may seem, some things never change. Young and uncertain, she is extremely grateful for the warm welcome the Clan has given her, and even more grateful for a nice, cozy nest in the Nursery. There does seem to be something different about her, however, as her birth was heralded by the arrival at the Clan of a very strange creature indeed…and as soon as the Dripcave Deputy saw the little female dragon, he let a cry of relief, called her “Gaoler,” and instantly offered a familiar bond…

6-14-19: Five days after their birth, the two young dragons of this new breed grew into healthy--and extremely large--adults, and promptly left the Nursery. They were not done surprising the Clan, however, as they did not make any attempt to move into the Main Cave, but rather headed to the very back of the lair, and, using a combination of magic and their own claws, carved out a whole new section where they promptly settled. And the section in question is extremely odd. While it was being carved, the other dragons could see that it appeared to be a series of interconnecting caves, much like the Magical Phenomena Cave Circle. But the whole thing began to shimmer with strange magic seconds after the main area of the section was complete, and since then, all attempts by various dragons to get through the "door" into the new cave circle have failed utterly. In fact, some dragons can't even find the entrance!

The two Gaolers seem determined to keep to themselves, and the only hint as to what they may be doing in this new section appears to be in their names, which are both taken from scrolls found in the Library that Ruth read to them when they were hatchlings--and in the name they have given their "home": Temporal Research and Time Watch. It seems that Ruth's passed-on fascination with Time Travel may have combined with these dragons natural instinct to guard and protect in a very unusual way....

6-16-19: There has been a new addition to the Clan, and she appears to fascinate Tardisa, who is now spending a lot of time outside the Time Caves Circle, staring at the small bundle of blue fur currently resting in the Nursery. She seems to be determined to introduce herself to the young one, and has even been heard murmuring that perhaps she should “pass on” her name to one who is “clearly more suitable for it”….

6-20-19: And, to the shock of the whole Clan, she has done it! This dragon cast a spell upon herself that completely changed all records in the Clan, so she is now known as "Romana," which, according to her, is short for a much, much longer name. Apparently, she believes that her original name should by rights belong to the blue Gaoler female, and that her own new one is far more suitable for her own personality....

9-6-19: Romana was quite happy to see her Dripcave Deputy, “Marshal,” Awaken today. Now she can begin to train him on the best ways to guard time...and how to handle those who abuse it...

3-4-20: To the astonishment of the whole Clan, the Clan's Chocolate Ferret has suddenly decided that Romana would make an excellent companion for him, despite the fact that she has never seemed that fascinated by furry little critters, or that amused by those who take from others. Oddly, though, Romana herself does not seem to be unhappy at this arrangement. She has been heard talking to the Ferret about personal boundaries, and only punishing those who deserve it…Hmmm…On second thought, perhaps it’s not so surprising that a creature who likes to take valuables has chosen a dragon who believes so strongly in harsh discipline for wrong-doers…

5-31-20: The Chocolate Ferret has Awakened! Romana is very happy to see her friend filled with so much energy, especially since he is using it to ensure that those who steal get a taste of their own medicine...

...And in the meantime, Romana needs to investigate where that strange Fae Ferret came from, only seconds after the Chocolate Ferret Awakened. It simply appeared, standing right next to her companion. This is quite worrisome, as it suggests a time shift of some kind. And if someone in the Clan has been messing with time, especially for the purpose of breeding a new kind of ferret, then she WILL be making them pay...

7-7-20: Romana has still not found the culprit who created--or worse summoned--this new ferret. The ferret in question does not seem to be trying to cause any trouble, however, and has simply retreated to the Hoard to sleep. In the meantime, Romana has another concern: Somehow her beloved Chocolate Ferret recently caught on fire and lost all his fur after sniffing at Tardisa’s “Core.” Romana is furious! If her sister-Gaoler does not start controlling her familiars, Romana will be taking matters into her own paws quickly. Her ferret looks awful without his fur! And how can he possibly discipline dragons who abuse time properly if he is getting snickered at? Oh, she is going to throttle Tardisa for this…
