It all started in the frozen Fortress of Ends, with nothing more than a small clutch of eggs. Out of each one hatched a young guardian, and among them was Glade, a brightly colored girl standing out against the glaring white snow around her. The three of them together traveled through the land somberly, huddling for warmth, struggling to survive on their own. Eventually, they found a small clan of dragons willing to take them in, and the guardians were more than grateful for their hospitality. Though those in the clan were distant and uninterested in the group's struggles initially, they all had each other, and that was all that mattered to them at the time.

As they aged, Glade and her sisters, Summer and Mallow (named after their favorite words,) found their places among the clan - for the most part. As many ice dragons do, the clan worked to collect momentos of times past, hoping to preserve and document the area's natural history. Summer and Mallow excelled in this trade, Summer being well suited to the careful excavation of fossil, and Mallow shining when it came to keeping records. Glade did well enough in the field, but she found it much less interesting than working with living creatures. More often than not, she would be caught in the lair, observing yet another newly acquired familiar, or running experiments on the area's flora to learn how it survives in the frigid wasteland. In her eyes, it was more important to learn from the subject when it was, well, alive, rather than chase after dead things and try to guess how they lived through context clues.

Soon, Glade was at a crossroads. Stay with her sisters in the ice clan, discontent, but with company, or strike out on her own, in search of furthering her understanding of the natural world in other areas. Eventually, after encouragement from her siblings, the young guardian packed her things and left in search of knowledge. She traveled across all of Sornieth, appreciating the differences in the natural orders of the various flights' realms, and learning more on how to preserve said natures.

When Glade set out, she had no specific destination in mind. Her possibilities were nearly endless, and she truly hadn't planned her route very well. As such, she bounced from place to place, never staying too long, never truly interacting with other dragons. Her only companion through this time was a small red bird, whom she fittingly named Red, that Glade had encountered in the Windswept Plateau as a mere hatchling. Glade wasn't sure why Red decided to stay by her side for so long, but she appreciated the company, and Red has had a home with Glade for some time now. Though the bird is reaching its elderly ages in the present days, Glade worries little, understanding that this is simply a natural process in life, and that death will never take her memories of Red away.

After a year or so of studying, Glade decided it was time for her to find her place among another clan. She contemplated going back to the realm of the Icewarden, reuniting with her sisters and clanmates, and actually set off in that direction from the Viridian Labyrinth. During a pitstop in the Windswept Plateau, Glade found herself taking refuge in a very small clan of a few others, calling themselves Pathfinders. Ashby, the founder, took the time to explain to her what he and the others were trying to accomplish - creating a clan for dragons that might otherwise be rejected. It didn't take her long to agree to stay, greatly appreciating the philosophies they believed in, and hoping she could provide council. Due to her age, the patriarch granted her a spot among the clan's council of elders, and her role primarily handles teaching young dragons the how to preserve and care for the flora and fauna around them.
