her name is a form of alex, which ultimately derives from the greek alexo (ἀλέξω), meaning "to defend."

the biological child of gizelle and caraway- two beings that are not skydancers, and not dragons at all. alyx is half fairy and half fire elemental, but she's still young, so nobody is quite sure what she really looks like. she simply doesn't know how to shapeshift yet. if she were born in sorneith, she would be born with her true appearance, but she wasn't. she was born in arcadia. she is a new kind of being, likely the first and last that will ever exist, unless gizelle and caraway decide to have more children. until then, there's only one infinite-sky-born fairy/fire elemental, and she's a flower enthusiast.
