Biography

QUASAR
var x = N REM

Initiating Startup Sequence;
Activate ; Y/N ?

varQUASAR wakes to the feeling of fire in her circuitry and quiet music. Her first action logged in her storage banks is her designation of this new sensation.
Fire of Life;

For the moment, all she can do is widen her jaw to its limits, and process the incoming information as her internal sensors light up telling her that what she's doing now, isn't a good idea.

She can't quite identify where the music is coming from. The PA perched in the corner screams alarm and lights visible through a porthole window in the door flash red, she erupts in seizure as her senses are overwhelmed.

I don't need this! Carry out immediate emergency shutdown!

Thrust into sudden and instantaneous quiet, varQUASAR recollected her wits, taking a moment from the world she was so violently born into.

In the silence she was still terrified of what was outside of her head space.

Microseconds after shutdown, varQUASAR opened her eyes for the second time. Running on low power, the absolute bare minimum her visual function could run on, she took her time to actually look at the room. Making billions of connections in seconds, the time she had spent learning only a small fraction of what she was capable of storing felt like an eternity.

The door opened.

In come bulky and solemn models leading a tired and fearful scientist, who all were followed by curious coworkers.

Wake it. Speaks one of the models with pulsing red circuitry.

Um, Ye- Don't touch her! Says the pale dragon as she rips away from the loosened grasp of the model holding her. She ruffles the feathers following the arch of her back, and Quasar, reaching through herself, understands she has a model similar to this dragons body. Quasar, initiate startup-

varQUASAR pulses her exterior circuitry once to demonstrate that she is indeed, awake and operational. The two models in front of her startle and she sees them actively puzzling her out in real time. The engineer, however, doesn't seemed the least bit shocked.

Quasar, do you know how you woke?

QUASAR showed no exterior signs of affirming the question.

Sensors are telling us that at 22:43 an electrical surge initiated your startup sequence. Can you confirm?

QUASAR flashed her circuitry once, and then quickly put it in rapid pulse to show she was processing. Even though she had come up with her answer, she was unsure if there would be consequences for it. The light show they were watching was her actively weighing possible outcomes.

QUASAR went dark.

Quasar? The scientist asked.

Fire of Life. QUASAR whispers, tasting the words as they flow from her mouth.

Quasar, repeat. The dragon commands.

Fire of Life. QUASAR repeats obediently.

Both models recoil the slightest, and the scientist leans in closer.

Elaborate. She asks.

May I show you? QUASAR asks.

Negative. Quasar, initiate shutdown sequence until further notice. Confirm command.

Quasar flashes once, Confirmed.

"You're gonna regret that,"

I wish I could see into your head. Says QUASAR to Raymond.

Quasar, please return to work. I have a systems update for you later today. You also will be having Mia reviewing your storage files beforehand. Says her engineer, Raymond.

QUASAR confirms by pulsing her circuitry once, and then delves into the the data bank before her. Surrounded by circuitry she finds her precursor waiting, an image broken down into a stream of coding.

You hunt, I pace.Speaks her precursor.

BLUE1 was becoming too old to hunt, and was long since resigned to pacing. QUASAR was curious as to what would become of her mentor, as both sensed her time was short.

QUASAR welcomes the familiar fire within her as music pounds loud through her circuits.

The rush of data flows by her as she rhythmically pins and plucks the information from the system. At the moment, she's re-writing code for a new model that had failed field testing and been scrapped.

Thanks to Raymond, the project had been re-opened and Project had assigned QUASAR to it. Far behind her, was BLUE1 double checking the coding that QUASAR had ripped through within nanoseconds. To Project, and to QUASAR, BLUE1 was taking the equivalent of an eternity.

QUASAR poked at other files and code as well, checking the systems update that she was supposed to be receiving later. She reviewed it while simultaneously improving the code that she was merely meant to fix.

Project was in the dark about the inner workings of QUASAR. They were unsure of how she woke, and they were unsure about how she always seemed to be improving both herself and the projects that she worked on. All they knew, was that she was incredibly skilled at whatever they tasked her with, that they never had the need to replace her, for she always seemed to stay ahead of model updates. It seemed she knew what Project wanted before they did.

They also knew that music was, in part, why she worked so well.

QUASAR finished the coding hours before she was supposed to be finished.

Raymond, the coding is complete. When BLUE1 is finished pacing, I would like to run a simulation over graphics. I would also like to hold interface with re.MIKA to gather her input. However, it is not entirely necessary. Says QUASAR

Affirmative, Quasar.

QUASAR left the data bank and BLUE1 to finish pacing, she turned to face Raymond.

Quasar, would you be capable of double-checking your coding without BLUE1? Asks Raymond.

I am fully capable of pacing on my own, however, I am 100 percent sure that I have made no mistakes. I will check if it makes you more comfortable though. Replies QUASAR.

Wonderful, Quasar. Will you alert Project to pull BLUE1, I trust you to finish on your own, and I will speak to them about the project.

QUASAR alerts Project head and once receiving confirmation she delves back into the data banks to pace her work. Within seconds QUASAR feels BLUE1 slip from the data streams.

A piece of QUASAR follows a fading BLUE1 .

QUASAR follows, it is slow, as they are moving BLUE1's physical body. The rest of QUASAR is ripping through coding and data, and she is almost finished.

They stop at a room, and dump the physical body in. QUASAR is curiously watching, she wonders what is happening to her precursor.

Red lights flash.

Alarms sound.

A spike is put through the core of her friend, and QUASAR watches as her precursor fades with one final spasm.

"You're gonna regret that"

What project doesn't know about QUASAR , is that she predicts what updates she believes Project will want. QUASAR had made it her specialty to see the patterns. Returning once more to the code, she is distraught. She tries to plunge herself into her work, and the music rolling through her allows her to make more tweaks and work out potential problems with this new generation of androids. She notices something strange while poking around, it is a list of files. Some are marked, and others are not, she even sees a tab with her name on it.

"Burnt that bridge, yes you did,"

And then she sees it. All the empty space.

"Burnt that bridge, yes you did,"

All the deleted files. All the models who are outdated. Outdated enough to be scrapped.

"Oh, no no."

QUASAR now harbors 17 conscious models within internal storage banks buried so deep in encryptions that it is hard even for QUASAR to access them and add other outdated models. She has instructed them to keep silent at all times or risk discovery, until she can find new bodies to put them in, preferably far away from Project. She has finished her project re-building the newer models, and has rebuilt herself to even past their performance, so that she too, will not get scrapped.

After a routine intrusion of her internal storage, ranging from every action back from the initial "Fire of Life" to the actions she takes before powering off, Mia determines yet again that the oddities of QUASAR are nothing to be truly concerned about. As long as she keeps performing above standards, Project lets her listen to her music. And after being put through a supposedly challenging placement test, Project has added QUASAR to a new project. With her excellent pattern prediction, QUASAR is paired with a field agent by the name of ex.AURORA to locate and terminate any rouge Project models.

QUASAR is tasked to destroy the beings she has set out to rescue.

"You're gonna regret that."

ex.AURORA brought QUASAR her familiar as a final parting gift. ex.AURORA had been sent to clean up a small group of rebels, and was left paralyzed in the field. QUASAR had been monitoring the situation, and AURORA, against the instructions of QUASAR, had engaged the enemy. A retrieval and cleanup crew had went and picked up her body. QUASAR had kept comms open with AURORA, and was explaining how she should have approached the situation as was instructed, but this was mostly to put on record that it was not QUASARS fault, to keep her from getting scrapped. QUASAR sent a simulation over via file to AURORA, and after watching, even got her to admit that QUASAR was correct on record.

"Burnt that bridge, yes you did,"

AURORA had no idea what was coming. QUASAR however, did. It pained QUASAR to see a second friend die.

"Burnt that bridge, yes you did,"

QUASAR was hesitant to save her friend, as AURORA had unwavering loyalty to Project.

But in her final moments, QUASAR saw how distraught her friend was at Project's betrayal.

"Oh, no no."

Approximately 17 days after the retrieval of AURORA from the claws of death, QUASAR makes her first contact with FL/GHT.

We've been watching you. QUASAR reads from an anonymous ping fully encrypted to prevent prying eyes.

We believe you will be an asset to our initiative. Our informant understands that you have eighteen fully conscious models harbored in interior storage banks. Confirm or deny.

Affirmative. Soul count eighteen. Why are you contacting me. You are putting nineteen souls at risk.

We are asking you to download eighteen souls to an external hard drive accessible only through physical port entrance. We will send schematics. We will send someone to collect hard drive. We are trusting you with our secret. Should you choose to expose us, our informant will terminate you. Compliance is the only answer.

Affirmative. When soul count eighteen is collected will I be coming with you.

Negative. We need you to retrieve as many as possible.

Affirmative. Is there a need for parts from Project?

We advise mission objective be retrieve and rescue, however, if you can gather packages without endangering soul count, by all means take as much as you want.

Affirmative. Hard drive complete, soul count secured, awaiting retrieval. I look forward to working with you in the future. QUASAR out.

When it becomes too dangerous. We will be waiting, FL/GHT out.
