A string is a very interesting item, is it not? Dozens and dozens of thread weaved together to build something stronger. And eventually, that string will probably be woven into something else, something bigger. I guess that’s why I’m fascinated by the thread of fate that each and every dragon has. It’s curious to see where that thread ends up. I think a friend of mine thinks the same, but she is more focus on the end of each thread. I like to focus on the beginning. When I came across a coatl with a ribbon of fate so bright and curling, a ribbon that intertwined with my own, I smiled and immediately knew it’d be a waste to let such a fate go to waste. I leaned down and inspected him, and in response he pressed himself harder against the tree behind him. The male was shivering, either from the chill or fear. “Come with me,” I told him softly before straightening. He made no move to stand up yet. “You- you will hurt me. I have no reason to go with you,” The coatl finally replied, nearly frozen out of fear. Whatever was going through that little head of his… the male was distraught. Panicked. I peered down at his ribbon of fate, inspecting it a little closer. Something happened to this coatl, something less than savory, but I would need time to further understand it. I didn’t have time, unfortunately. “I’m not going to hurt you, what gave you that impression, lad? Is it because everything in these woods might hurt you? So then wouldn’t it be in your best interest to come with me to my home so you can get warmer clothes on and food in your stomach?” I raised an eyebrow, a smile curling up on my lips. I could see him calculating, and I was patient. I preoccupied myself with inspecting the bark on a nearby tree, whistling a soft irrational tune. None of it seemed to calm the male, but after a couple moments he replied, “O-okay. I’ll come with you.” Then we were off. I could tell the coatl was debating running off the entire time, but he didn’t. Why, I don’t know, but I was more focused on getting him back to my home—the sooner the better, I couldn’t help but be eager to unlock the secrets behind this male’s fate and to teach him of his own potential. |
