Emrys is far more than a humble gardener though that is all that he claims himself to be. He is also an alchemist, shaman, druid and excellent cook. He speaks to the world through the roots that dig deep into the Earth and can bend all the nature of the world to his will. Not that he would abuse them. All the plants that exist are his friends and even if he uses them in his potions or to season his food they go willingly knowing that their good 'ol buddy Emrys would never misuse them. He us an unshakable pacifist and believes all life is precious. Of course the warriors of the Clan disagree but his threats to withhold dinner quickly change their thoughts. Who can argue with the clan cook?
