Hellhound
Mate of Atraxus

"Fiercely guard the passions burning inside your heart so that their flames can safely reach the highest ceilings of success without the eyes of envy."

I breathe in the smoke and flames which surround me, hot and charred as ever. Should I be alive from such? Of course not, yet here I stand. I burn but the flames are my friends. They reflect my burning passion and my purpose: to protect what lies beyond the blasted gates these mortals call Hell. See me as I am; they all do. You'll likely be no different. A creature of fire and flame with no good left in its soul, bound to hell by these chains which show my will is not fully free. At least that's what they believed once upon a time. My chains are rusted and broken. No one holds me here. Nothing but the need to guard these gates which keep out the bad beings from the mortal realm.

All fear me, make tales and stories of the rare times I step foot away from my charge. Yet I remain here... Guarding. Waiting. Tell me, then, if that sounds like such a horrible creature. You have phrases which suggest to not judge based on how a being looks, yet I stand here in the audience of fear from those which gaze upon me. I do not guide the dead and I do not punish the evil, but they would know no bounds if I were not here to guard. To wait. If I am the monster, then dare not step beyond these gates. A hellhound is the least of your worries.

"Our deepest fears are like hellhounds, guarding the gates to our darkest secrets."

Breeding Pair

Hephaestus is a scrolled second generation Imperial. His mate, Atraxus, is also a second generation Imperial, which means that all of their offspring will be third generation Imperials. They differ slightly in genes, though all genes have a decent chance of showing overall between the two sets. As far as the colour range itself, it is mostly wide but has a good spread of colours. The primaries consist of the orange and brown range, and the secondaries consist of a wide array of oranges, browns, reds, pinks, and greyscales. The tertiaries consist of only the darkest blacks. This leaves room for there to be XXY and XYY potential in offspring, though the likelihood is very low.

Dragon Lore
5HsmQfT.png

"As the red day is dawning
And the lightning cracks the sky
They'll raise their hands
To the heavens above
Who descend unto their lies

Running back through the mid morning light
There's a burning in my heart
We're banished from the time in the foreign land
To a light beyond the stars

In your blackest dreams see to the need, that destiny is tied
And endlessly we're roaming free tonight"

Long Live the King
Fiery orange scales reflected the firelight lapping at them and surrounding them in warmth until they became one: a golden orange flame burning as bright as the sun. In the beauty of it, the flames began moving steadily toward the dragon ahead. It stood still but was barely visible beyond the flames. Upon reaching the unknown dragon's figure, they first lapped gently at him as they had the scales before. However, instead of merging into the beautiful flame, the dragon crackled and burned like a piece of paper until the ash whisked away into the darkness around it, leaving only the flame in its place.

Drakor awoke with a start and in a cold sweat. It wasn't the first time he had woke from these nightmares which taunted him each night recently. The local healers had told him they meant nothing and that dreams did not and could not carry warning without the will of the gods. Even so, Drakor couldn't help but wonder if this dream came not as a warning, but as a threat. Still, he could not recall angering Flamecaller. He ruled his people as he always had, and he saw no fault in that. Why should Flamecaller?

In any case, Drakor repeated the routine he always had since the nightmares first came to him. He got up from his bed and crawled from under the soft Boreal Wolf sheets which he had imported from the Ice clans. Slipping his tail around an ornate lantern he kept at his bedside as of late, he walked to the door. The familiar etchings of his personal wood workers helped to ease his nerves as he gently unlocked and pushed open the door.
The hall beyond was quiet and the air still. Magnificent and colourful arched glass panes spanned the hallway with finely detailed hexagonal pillars between them. Gold and silver marble floors glistened with the most perfect polish and shine, reflecting back the tired, young king's own creamy face. Only his guards were left outside his room at this hour, and they stood still as statues as Drakor exited his chambers.

"Leave me," was all Drakor would say before walking down the hall on his own. Thoughts of his nightmare swarmed in his head and all lead back to the idea that his dreams had to be some sort of warning. Healers had been wrong in the past before. Could it be any different now? By the gods, if they were incorrect, they would be punished for their incompetence.

He rounded the corner to another long corridor that lead to a balcony overlooking his kingdom. A beautiful sight at night, lights flickered all around. The most stunning sight was the Great Forge, of course, the only building which belonged to the lowborn dragons that was permitted to be on castle grounds. The structure itself had enough ventilation for the giant forge to almost glow at night with flames licking out of the large metallic chimney at its center. The Great Forge was massive and home to many lowborn who worked there. While this was where Drakor's best armor was forged, he did not enjoy mingling with lowborn. Tomorrow he'd have to endure it.
As such thoughts crossed his mind, a light flickered down below. It was so much brighter than the rest, and it came from the Magma Pools. This sector was also on the castle grounds, but it surrounded the Great Forge. Despite the name, the magma vents were closed and didn’t give off so much light due to the coverings which served to both dull the light and prevent the heat from getting too extreme. It was typically no more light than your average street light. What could the nobles possibly be doing so late at night though? Typically only the lowborn would be causing such disruption due to work, but the nobles weren’t the standard working type. Much of their days involved the political side of the community. While Drakor was no fan of the politics himself, it was a necessary part of their lives.

The light flickered again, brighter still. It was like a burning flame unlike anything Drakor had ever seen. Alluring and unyielding, it grew and grew until it began engulfing the nearby buildings. Drakor couldn’t do anything but stare in awe and confusion as the flame spread across the land. As it grew closer to the castle, Drakor could feel fear well up in his chest. This flame moved like an animal or dragon, searching the land for one thing in particular. When it finally reached the castle’s first floor, the flame suddenly spread like wildfire. It reached Drakor in an instant, and he recoiled in horror. The flame licked his muzzle, torching his beautiful scales black in an instant. Whimpering in pain, on his rear, he scuffled backward to escape the horror before him.

For a moment, Drakor turned to try to determine which way to go but, when he returned his attention to the roaring flames, they dissipated. Left behind was the beautiful hall which had always calmed him. It was untouched - spotless, even - where fire had eaten away at the ornate railing. Reluctantly crawling to the railing, he peeked between the gaps. The kingdom was, too, untouched by destruction.
Had he imagined it all? Were his dreams now plaguing his every waking moment? He touched his muzzle and was filled with both relief and a sense of dread. Drakor had not been burnt, yet he absolutely felt the pain. It was as real as he, yet it did nothing to him. Was he truly losing his mind in the stress of his horrific nightmares? Then he saw it.

A single flame burning softly in the same spot the other had originated slowly grew. This time, however, it only got to the size of a single lowborn home. It did not grow further or travel. It only flickered softly before slowly whittling away into the night sky, disappearing amongst the stars.
