The beautiful coral that grows interrupted within the Sea of a Thousand Currents has recently become greatly endangered with the combination of the Tidelord's disappearance and the sudden changes in weather.

With constant threats looming above and below, some of the more resilient branches have, with the aid of sporadic pockets of magic, become sentient. When not focused on spreading and repopulating their treasured home, they'll do whatever they must to keep it safe.


Contrary to their brilliant-colored hides, those that live in the Fishspine Coral are excellent with sneak attacks, as many intruders don't notice their initial approach.

Chio are considered an enigma within the coral. Despite the parents nesting in Water, the hatchlings have white eyes, and instead of shunning them, partially because of their ability, they're accepted with open wings.

Hatchlings are born with the unique ability to rapidly drop the temperature of the surrounding water, allowing them to bring any potential intruders to a halt long enough for their stronger, offensive allies to catch up. If a hatchling's ability is strong enough, they can freeze the water.

Some believe that moonstones better concentrate their abilities, and thus it's common to see a Chio adorned with them.
