Biography
middy,,,,
*au middy
im so normal about the dragons and the omicrons guys. so normal. so so normal. [looks at the fr/ffxiv au lore] so normal.
imp with ridgie and coatl [spirally things and hindwings] ancestry?? and guardian for the fins. big guy all around
visible hybridization is more common around middy's time cos of decreased social stigma surrounding growing into traits from other breeds
oh also hatchlings always start as appearing triple basic and grow their genes/breed traits based on their surroundings/nearby dragons/actual genes. perhaps this wasn't always the case and began to increase around bote/mintverse's time?
say a hatchling with spines born in shadow might have the spines form thin and slightly curved to resemble bramble thorns, while a hatchling with spines born in lightning might have the spines form to be jagged and resemble the spires/lightning glass. like that. anyway it becomes far more apparent by middy's time and often the parents' genes are ignored entirely by the hatchling's [not the colors though].
the first brood are partially his at most - he just scooped up as many eggs as he could carry and some were random unhatched eggs. yes this means if i make first brood dragons they legally have to be g1s. :'D
nidhogg: fire [trust me], coatl ancestry?
hraesvelgr: light/ice, coatl ancestry
ratatoskr: wind/lightning?..
vrtra: plague ridgie
azdaja: banescale ancestry. light?????????????
bahamut: fire/light?? banescale-adjacent?
tiamat: plague
hatchlings still usually match some traits of the parent[s] which is why they all have swirly things regardless of supposed breed ancestry
also ancients and other ancients and moderns can breed btw
the dragons of etheirys are stereotyped as incredibly vain and willing to do/pay anything for that perfect accessory or pattern to complete their look. goldsmiths hate ishgard for driving away such perfect customers
the broods of the greatwyrms look so different from their progenitors because they're matching the scalekin of etheirys maybe?
OH CLUCK I FORGOT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE OPAL
perhaps a custom? could also get me more colors
anyway yknow what you can store information in? crystals! and who needs to carry as much information as possible [especially regarding how to craft things like gene scrolls] on their way to another star? middy! hmm as a custom as opal-styled crystallization over his actual tert would make sense too
previously named Autumn. this is a surprise tool that may help us later.
the plague nature and arcane territories should be smaller than the others because they don't have pillar pieces maybe [and also aren't real elements ]
except nature who has a whole island... but shares some magic jurisdictions with shadow a la brambleboy
also the behemoth is Not big enough to be seen from every corner of the world sorry. you can see it on the horizon from the tippy top of the tempest spire at the furthest.
arcane and plague are both small and plague is Growing. Constantly. as we know. arcane is defending by being radioactive and having Crystals That Are Really Hard For Meat To Grow On [...but not impossible to...] also floating islands are hard for the ground meat to reach
so plague is growing into arcane and arcane is growing into ice, which is shrinking; this might result in two arcane territories in the future, one covering all of the frigid floes and then the crystalspine reaches/observatory - plague having consumed the starwood strand/rest of the mainland - and then the floating islands moved to form a [very loose] bridge over the plaguelands
this is probably the state of the territories by middy's time in the post-mint-dying timelines [in pre-mint-dying timelines It's All Wind]
ice has probably become isolated from the rest of sornieth; news and trade mostly coming from water, wind and arcane dragons who can make the journey
in the wind timeline, the pillar becomes the sacred peak on the dragonstar in ffxiv through some sort of shenanigans. in the mintless timeline maybe it stays pillar shaped?
the source definitely explodes at some point. yeah.
fun fact: i can't think of any ffxiv dragons that use water attacks [shinryu leviathan and seiryu aren't dragons and don't count] and n7k said the omicrons first attack was always to vaporize all the major water sources on the star they were attacking so..... bye tidelord!!! rip the water flight!!!
