tumblr_nti067xMTN1repldoo7_400.png Description:
They've forgotten the name they once possessed. The night that the great Mother bestowed upon them the title, "Dweller of Sornieth, Coiled Servant to Her," the Spiral relinquished any need or desire for a proper name.

Dweller has always seen things they couldn't explain. Beings and creatures that were more akin to the great astral formations documented by the Arcane flight than any dragons or beasts, structures that would disappear and shift as the lighting changed. Older dragons couldn't understand what the hatchling described, and, as years piled on, fellow hatchlings and adolescents shunned the dragon for their odd experiences. Dweller's distrust of other dragons- especially those in the religious or medical fields- grew, and so too did their curiosity. An expanding knowledge of the world taught Dweller of similar stories of the impossible. They always considered themself too smart to get caught up in any of the cults that aimed to "educate" them, and eventually entirely turned to independent study. They'd already stolen an ancient book and learned the language and runes populating it to the best of their ability; what they hadn't done was figure out what to do next.

As they furthered their research with the tome, they found their dreams growing odder. They possessed a body that was unlike their own (though they could never recall the differences), and found themself feeding, sleeping, traveling, living with what felt like hundreds (thousands), but appeared as millions (billions) of what they intrinsically knew as siblings. Some felt real, as if Dweller could meet them in their waking world. But the others were real.

They all spoke of a Mother, which birthed these superior forms, supplemented the maws of their yearning minds when the waking world could not satisfy their hunger. Dweller listened with open ears, and a ravenous mind. The first time that they learned to speak in this world (in a language that felt nostalgic, but they knew they'd never heard), they asked if they could ever meet this Mother.

Siblings died in droves, sobbing as their forms began to disappear, break, bleed. Dweller thinks they sobbed themself, those screams echoing and pounding in their mind as siblings clawed at their flanks, begging for salvation from both Dweller and their Mother. Dweller can remember their own claws digging into flesh, pushing siblings away, calling them selfish monsters, looking at their own claws and being unable to identify who once possessed the ink-like blood which stained them. And once Dweller was standing alone amongst a sea of their siblings, shaking and unable to focus, the great Mother made Herself known. All at once, Dweller was silent, still, serene. The Mother called Her living child forth, invited them to feed, praised Her living child for their bravery in that language which felt like home. Dweller can't remember what Her touch felt like (if Her form even met theirs in the first place), but they can remember Her voice, decreeing Dweller's title. And Dweller remembers whispering, with all the silence and love which their own world possessed:
