A more arrogant Necromancer you have never met, and never will meet.

Even among a society well-known for arrogance, for pomp, for sneering down their noses at others who fail to meet their expectations, Hypoxia is in a league of her own when it comes to being full of herself.

Though she is far from the first or only Necromancer to take and succeed at the Trials as a hatchling, she believes that this alone makes her better than everyone else. That she, a lone hatchling, survived on a shelf scarcely a clawlength above the bubbling Cauldron must mean that she is the greatest of her kind.

She is not, but there is no force on Sornieth that could ever sway her to believe it.

It was Hypoxia's arrogance that led to the downfall of the Court of Rogues and the survivors' exodus from the Plaguelands. Despite her twin brother's pleading, she accepted Phyrexia and his mate into the clan and into the highest circle of its Necromancers without caution. She believed she could control him, that his power would be yet another bargaining chip she could use against the Council to raise her status in their society, and as a result she has lost almost everything.

Her twin sons left for other clans. Her daughter, battered for years by her disappointment, will not speak to her. Her mate remains only because it is his duty to watch his charge. Though they share the same clan, her brother won't even meet her eyes.

And her rank in the Council? Her powers? The former stripped as easily as one might slip out of a winter coat. The latter bound so tightly she has nary the magic left to give a mouse a cough.

All by Maple, her aunt, whom she resents above all others-- not for her part in defeating the Phyrexians, but for placing the blame squarely on Hypoxia and no others.

Fallen is she from greatness, and yet she still tries to convince anyone who will listen that she is the best of them all, that her bloodline alone makes her stronger or more important than any other dragon in the clan.

Alas, ego cannot keep one warm on cold and moonless nights.

She and Adder are twins, hatched from the same egg.
She despises Hyphema and believes a Necromancer should be leading the Court mirror pack. Every time she duels Hyphema for leadership she loses.
She barely tolerates her brother, believing him to be too soft for a true Necromancer.
When Maple manages to find the cure for Phyresis, she denounces Hypoxia and has her stripped of her rank on the Council for her failure to stand against Phyrexia and his army, and for being the one who allowed him into the Court in the first place.
I originally wrote the lore of her hating Maple before ever realizing they're both related to Reginn. I think Maple being her aunt makes the whole thing funnier. Auntie Maple slapping her down for her foolishness and incompetence.
