Write/Decide on bio: [X] Art: [ ] Not all is as it seems, one's reality, is another's illusion. A gaoler born on the teetering boarder of the Twisted Wood and the Scarred wasteland; he holds a perfectly imperfect balance of both mother flights. His eyes the color of warm blood, his coat the wispy hues of moon and shadow. Considered unnatural; blessed and cursed by his own birth to walk the line between elements and belong to neither. Many have come to view him as an omen; for wherever he goes, terrible misfortune follows- Sickness, famine, drought, night terrors and even death. His steps silent as the grave, his words a soft lullaby. Some see friend, others, fiend. He has secrets, yet he speaks of none, sees, yet does not look, knows; yet is unknown. He is one who does not belong, who's presence is unsettling and comforting. For this, he has taken a solitary life of wander with not but his wagon as any sense of home. In his solitude, he has turned to reading fates and listening to the whispers of spirits; learning to interpret their wisdom. For those who seek him out with intent to learn, he offers tea and readings of bone or card alike. Where most who claim to tell fortunes play on cues and whisper what others wish to hear; he seeks to learn alongside them what the spirits and forces abound seek to teach. Many leave his company with parting wisdom, guidance, or simply shelter and company for the evening; despite warnings of his curse passed in the shouts of unfortunate souls who cross him prior. Those who seek him with ill intent; to 'rid their land' of such a horrible burden, find themselves condemned to tragedy for their cruelty. Powers and Abilities

Tarot: The ability to read tarot card spreads. Readings can be done with physical cards for authenticity and immersive purposes; readings are personal interpretations of the card's meanings that the subject can then interpret further on their own Shadow Fog: A strange defensive ability, rather than a pure elemental breath weapon, he can produce a shadowy, wispy fog that when inhaled can affect the victim's mind akin to various other psychotropic substances. The effect is meant to calm the affected and lull them into a peaceful state, but can easily ramp up into horrific hallucinations if struggled against. The effect lasts anywhere from five minutes to at most five hours based on exposure and resistance. Necromancy: Perhaps the most potent ability garnered from this mingling of shadow and plague; he has the innate ability to raise and communicate with the dead. While animation is limited to physical remains, he can commune with spirits as well, but is unable to forcibly draw them into a physical form-- rather, he can craft the 'puppet' but not make them possess it. Any minions summoned usually last as long as the physical form remains in tact, but he tends to dismiss them once they are no longer needed as he does have a measure of respect for the dead. Scatter the Bones: Similar to reading tarot, he can read bones and in some cases; cast runes. He is still learning, however, so it is not as clear as tarot to him. That being said; this study along with his plague heritage have given him an odd sense for when he is near the physical remains of a once living creature-- even if an unmarked grave or lost corpse. He tends to favor the bones of magpie or other corvids for his readings, so they are most common to find within his wagon. Crystals: Glass-like crystals grow and shed from his hide akin to an Imperial's antlers. It is unclear what causes this, beyond his mixed heritage, and while they are relatively harmless in composition-- they can be rather jagged and sharp, proving a natural defense. Oddly; when agitated, he seems to be able to force further growth or additional crystals to form at a rapid rate. |
The Wagon
A large structure made of dark, warm colored hearty wood treated both alchemically and magically to preserve it against the elements and wear. This well-constructed mobile domicile is large enough to comfortably accommodate two fully grown Imperials and is hauled by him alone with a specially fitted harness. The treatments used on the wagon make it light weight as well as resilient, meaning its not a hassle to haul even for its size.
The interior mirrors the dark warmth of the outside; with comfortable plush seating and a sturdy buck-stove to keep warm and heat up a nice meal or some tea. It is surprisingly spacious, leaving room for various pillows and such gifted or collected for some sense of otherwise absent comfort. A table folded neatly up against the wall can be brought down with seating around it allowing for readings and an arched doorway leads to comfortably piled bedding, closed off from view by a heavy curtain of black fabric.
The notable oddity and beauty, however, is in the details. The walls, floor, ceiling; all the rich wood, but accented in the antiqued patterns of every bit of fabric used as insulation and comfort. The round arch leading to the bed is even accentuated by a grand lotus-petal mural depicting the phases of the moon. For lighting; oil lamps with gentle, slightly tinged yellow globes are used. On the outside; a string of lanterns decorates the 'porch', which is large enough to seat two. All in all, this home is a wonder to view both inside and out, as well as a marvel to see drawn even by a mighty Gaoler.
Caine
Caine is, by all accounts, a very much wild animal. While he does not behave as a tamed canid would; he lingers and sometimes can be seen keeping the gaoler company, much akin to a crow who has gleaned one in their favor. He protects the wagon as if it were his own den while he is there, and often isn't far off while on the move. Some consider Caine to be a familiar, others think its just a sign of animal respect. Whichever the case, his company is welcome, and food is shared willingly.
