Biography

Old name Aramisan. A gift from Skarlette to complete my Wellington Paranormal trio! Kinda hope they release a Season 2 at some point.

"...Well, that's because the moon is being obscured by cloud cover right now. That's why a lot of werewolves live in Wellington. It's always cloudy.”
― Maaka to O'Leary on Walkie-Talkie (S1 E4)

Sergeant Ruawai Maaka
Sergeant Maaka is the lead police officer of the Wellington Central Police Station, and the founder of the Wellington Police Paranormal Unit. He has a strong belief that Wellington is being besieged by otherwordly entities and is determined to prove as much to the other two members of the Unit, Officers Minogue and O'Leary.

ORIGINS:
Wellington Paranormal is a New Zealand mockumentary comedy horror television series which first aired in July 2018 on TVNZ 2. The series is a spin-off of the 2014 film What We Do in the Shadows, and its lead characters—Officers Minogue and O'Leary—first appeared in the film. Shot in the style of police reality shows, the two Wellington police officers who followed up a noise complaint in the vampires' flat in the original film tackle paranormal crime on their new assignment to Sergeant Maaka's paranormal unit.

The series was created by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, who wrote, directed and performed in What We Do in the Shadows. Waititi and Clement serve as the series' executive producers, while Clement directs four of the six episodes.
