tumblr_nti067xMTN1repldoo4_400.png Description:
Minthe gently lifts their teacup, politely nods, and mimes a 'cheers' to their companion before taking a sip of the blend said companion has chosen. From the rim of their cup, however, they notice their companion reaching for the sugar, and quickly swallow and set down their cup. "Ah! Apologies, darling, that completely slipped my mind. Where are my manners..." they begin, reaching to pass the small dish, only before being interrupted by-

"No, no, I want to do it, it's alright."

Minthe, only somewhat surprised, rests a claw on their cup's handle, and watches as the silver shoulder joint of their companion's right arm shifts with their movement. Ever so slightly shaking, the arm is guiding the dragon's claws to the sugar, and soon their claw hovers above it. Each digit glints as it twitches, testing its grip on the dish, before a soft metallic clang sounds as claw meets dish, and the dragon carefully, and still slightly shakily, brings the sugar before them. They stare at it for a few seconds, stunned, before looking up at Minthe with a huge smile, and then get right back to testing if their new arm can manage to scoop and stir that sugar into the tea too. The Pearlcatcher can only proudly smile in return.

Growing up in the forges of the Ashfall Waste introduced Minthe to metalworking early on, and they were always drawn to more delicate pieces. Things with joints and delicate hydraulics were so much more fun than big flat swords or hammers... And safer. It was hard to miss all the accidents industry would cause, with anything from fingers to lives being lost through careless mistakes or malfunctioning machinery. But even avoiding work itself wasn't always enough to avoid adverse effects; hatchlings who stuck by their parents in the forge had a tendency to face stunted growth or develop early lung diseases due to the air quality they weren't quite old enough to magically filter yet. Minthe hadn't cared much at such a young age, but eventually realizing the truth behind their malformed wings inspired action.

Setting up a small, private, well-ventilated shop, Minthe got to work developing their metalworking skills alongside their magic, studying long into the night with only caffeinated teas to keep them awake. But, soon, they'd stabilized their wings with metal braces, and, even if they still couldn't quite fly, they possessed newfound mobility and control over their wings, using their magic to channel their thoughts into movement. The chronic wing pain they'd simply grown accustomed to over time was somewhat alleviated with the new stability, too; even if it'd never completely go away, they couldn't deny that the braces seemed to provide a less-than-metaphorical weight off their shoulders.

Content with their work, Minthe began advertising their craft to others, offering to both make custom prostheses and assist their customers with adjusting to life with them every step of the way. They always try to charge as little as possible, and, luckily, getting in contact with some grateful scrapyard owners has allowed them to continue making prostheses at a low, effecient cost.
