Pahoehoe would just like to be an ornithologist.
Too bad he’s Ahjo’s forger apprentice. He doesn’t care for it much. Ahjo doesn’t care for him much. They do get along, unprofessionally. Though Pahoehoe skeeves off his apprenticeship as much as possible in favor of various activities always in some form coming back to birdwatching, he does help out at the forge, he has solid basics and adequate advanceds, he does stoke the forge when he’s there, he can and does set up self-sufficient feedback loops of fire magic that temper a blade at such an astronomically slow crawl that no forger in their right mind would do it. It creates some interesting objects, but it also takes up space and so much time. Certain arcane dragons are willing to pay good treasure for instruments made of completely crystallized brass, though.
And yet- Pahoehoe has no passion for metalworking. It is foul-smelling and physical and he doesn’t like it. It’s something his family more or less forced him into.
