Children of the weaponsmith and the seer either inherit one mother’s love for the heat of the forge or the other’s unfortunate ability to see the possibilities the future holds.

The former’s talents are useful, at least. Sorineth is always wanting for good weaponsmiths and who would turn down an apprenticeship from one of the best this side of the Wasteland?
On the other hand, well.

The world could do with fewer seers, and the threads of fate can only run so far.

The first time Solais enters the forge, he's still young and eager to learn how to forge the many different kinds of weapons his mother produces for his homeclan.

Swords, arrowheads, speartips-- the list goes on, and little Solais can't wait to know the intricacies of the trade. His enthusiasm is infectious and adorable. Even his grizzled, solemn weaponsmith of a mother allows herself small smile at the sight of his excitement.

It doesn't last.

The moment Solais turns his gaze to the heat of the forge, to the roaring fire that turns the hardest metals to molten sludge, he nearly keels over in shock.

Later, his other mother-- a seer riddled with anxiety and for good reason-- will ask him why he'd frozen to the spot. His answer will confirm her worse fears: in the unforgiving heat of the forge's fire, Solais has come into his power and inherited her abilities.

He sees the future.
