Salt never felt at home in the Windswept Plateau where he lived for most of his life before leaving for new lands. He could never relate to the dragons who spent their days living and twirling in the wind. Instead, Salt loved to spend his time reading. He read whatever he could get his claws on: textbooks and old spell books, how-to books and cook books, books on the deities and books on the different parts of the world. Salt was brilliant. Through his studies, Salt became one of the smartest dragons in his clan. He earned the respect and love of his leader and clan mates, who came to him for questions and advice. Even so, he never truly felt at home.

One day, Salt decided to leave. He did not tell his clan he was going. He did not tell his family or his friends. Salt always hated goodbyes. But the need to get out was stronger.

Salt began to travel from region to region, never staying anywhere for long. Sometimes he found a clan that would welcome him. They would swap stories and Salt would share the knowledge he had gained with his host clan. But he never stayed. Eventually, he would feel the pull again and wander off.

Salt wanted to keep a low profile. He felt uncomfortable when people paid too much attention to him at any point. But the constant wandering was getting to him as well. Though Salt was learning much, from new books and stories from new dragons, he was lonely. He often found his thoughts drifting home, though he knew he could never be happy there.

Eventually, he found his way into the Ashfall Waste, where he stumbled upon Clan Versipellis. It did not take much to convince the leader, Tex, to allow the clever Imperial to remain in the Clan. While there, he met Xina, another Imperial. He is very fond of her and the two are often found in each other’s company.

Salt has been placed in charge of teaching the hatchlings of the Clan a number of subjects, from literature to music. He works closely with the other teachers, such as Mishka, in order to make sure all the hatchlings, and adults, are properly educated.

Salt worships the Lightweaver above all other deities.
