Skaril has thus far not bothered to devise a more clever or witty name for the thing that lumbers in his wake. It is a creature of his own design; the carcass of a Featherback Boar that has been infested and riddled with so many parasites that the myriad lifeforms within operate as a collective unit to keep the rotting form mobile and functional.

The malicious dragon is very nearly as quick at solving problems as Raylah, though he is far less prone to reveal his thoughts on any matter unless it happens to be in a moment that allows for flaunting.

Skaril's chambers are surprisingly clean; polished obsidian makes up every wall as well as the floors and ceiling, cushions and blankets are placed where appropriate, and no unstable mixtures are left lying around.

Skaril does not rank which Overseer he gets along with the way Ravosk does; he merely puts them into two groups: Fun to mess with (Ravosk, Livikus), and not to be messed with (Pentarax, Raylah).

Despite his, well, everything, Skaril is not considered evil. He merely has a far broader sense of humor than most; venturing past "funny", beyond "tasteless" and settling somewhere in the realm of "but why though?"

BIOGRAPHY

____The second of Pentarax's allies to be re-awakened on Sornieth, Skaril took to his new form with considerable glee; he had always been a winding and unpredictable sort before, and the Spiral whose body he came to inhabit suited him quite well. He was agile, fast, and incredibly adept at wiggling his way out of any trouble.

____Calling to mind the mythology of another world, the serpentine dragon was the first to suggest that perhaps the Scarred Wasteland would suit Pentarax's needs far better than the Ashfall Waste, though the volcanic region resembled their homeland far more closely. To this day, Skaril will claim credit for the move, though Pentarax, when asked, will dispute the account. Despite the apparent disagreement however, both dragons remain friends.

____The move did eventually lead to a change however, as after a dragon at the Trading Post unleashed a new breed upon Sornieth, Skaril found himself inadvertently splashed with mutagen and transformed into a new form; one far less agile than the Spiral, but far more durable. He has enjoyed his ability to actually take a hit nearly as much as his ability to hit back all the harder.

THE PILLAR

____The third pillar is the Obsidian Nail

____IIt is a twisted tower of decay, a large fang darker than the others and riven with black fissures and cracks. It contains countless laboratories where the native Plague dragons concoct various strains of disease and their respective antidotes when necessary. Darker rumors suggest the Obsidian Nail also contains a prison where ample test subjects are acquired.

____Skaril is its master, and carries with him a knowledge of disease and affliction that the more awe-inspired say rivals that of the Plaguebringer herself. He does not believe such a thing himself, but one so materialistic and arguably self-centered does not seem to believe in the existence of the Plaguebringer either.

____While one might expect the Obsidian Nail to be a sort of representation-within-the-region of the Plague Flight, the overall feel of the place is that it is more inclined towards darkness, whether that darkness be the blackness of decay or shadow. The overall atmosphere of the place gives a menacing thrill to those who live there, and distinct sensation of overwhelming evil to those who do not.

ACOLYTES

____While naturally somewhat solitary, Skaril is hardly the only dragon hard at work within the Obsidian Nail. He has "collected" a range of dragons who carry out their own work within the tower, and not just Plague-aligned dragons.

____Within the Nail, there are two factions; the Mask and the Shroud. The Mask is the faction that concerns itself primarily with disease, affliction, and all the manner of blights; both naturally occurring and artificially created. The Shroud meanwhile focuses on the more underhanded elements of the Stronghold's goals; from espionage, to infiltration, to the occasional implementation of The Mask's creations.

____The Mask are largely plague-aligned and include Astara, Komatus, Absolath, and Skaril's own mate, Mim.

____The Shroud are primarily shadow-aligned and include Jivalax, Undara, Zombie, and Mordzumel.

"I have been asked many times by the wariest of travelers just what goes on in the Nail. I have given various answers over the years, but have come to find that the best answer is an ominous belly laugh."

"I have often encouraged others to play a prank on Ravosk while playing a prank of my own by not telling them just how fast they need to run to escape her inevitable wrath."

"I have given thought to inviting Gerath and Antredaemos to join those of us in the Obsidian Nail. I cannot deny their talent; they are truly a destructive force, but they're ever so slightly too loud for my tastes."
