bio ❧ Powerful wings will carry you far from even the biggest threats. Rhiannon learned this watching Crow after Crow flee the nest, seeking out their own lives or escaping dangers they made for themselves, trying to claw their way out of the graves they dug. When it was Rhiannon's turn to leave, she made sure to leave before she could cause trouble or before any could cause trouble for her. She'd cast reading after reading on feathers and coins and tarot cards, a start of a reputation she would find later served her well, and eventually the plumes showed her the time to leave. She flew far and fast, with little more than a goodbye to the siblings she trained with. Rax is the first dragon Rhia meets after she leaves her home. A quiet little Jackdaw, of all things, beautiful for her kind with her dazzling orange runes and striped wings, almost fit for a Crow. Rax was frail, struggling to hold her own in the unforgiving wastelands, and Rhiannon pitied her. She took her in like a lost hatchling, helped her get back on her feet as she continued her journey on foot. Once Rax was able to fly again, muscles given their strength once more, the pair took off. Seeking territory more forgiving than plague-stricken wastes, Rhiannon flew to the Reedcleft Ascent, where she found a small city with dozens of dragons coming and going. The Tranquil Crosswinds, she learned as she was greeted. She wasted little time learning the layout, eager to find a home and get some food. Learning every grassy corner could come when she and Rax settled in. And settle she did, meeting an older Crow who'd been living in the area. Leonidas, the Lion of the Reedcleft. Her bones ached for the company of a Crow, and to her relief, he took her and Rax in. With time, the two were mated, wearing each others plumes like crowns. He danced for her after a sparring match one day, clumsy and inexperienced and more like stumbling and waving his wings than dancing, but she was charmed all the same and rose to dance by his side, wings brushing at the tips and noses bumping and chirps and crows filling the air in a song of their budding relationship. A new Crow--an Eboncrow, seeking refuge from threats unknown--came to their home one day and at first, Rhiannon kept her reactions to herself. She did not trust him, and just looking at him made the skin under her feathers crawl and twitch. Months went by as the Eboncrow and her mate grew close, her own nerves growing raw as each smile from the shadowy dragon rubbed them the wrong way. She turned to her fortunes, and when they warned her of bad omens each time, she finally broke her fears to Leonidas. And was brushed off. How dare he; she was the High Oracle! He brushed her warnings off like bird droppings on his feathers, despite the accuracy of all her readings the years prior. The sweet satisfaction of "I told you so" was to come later when the dark Crow turned out to bear the brand of an Albino on his shoulder. Now she sits and reads again; how long before the skeletons in his closet catch up to him?
