The Effluvial forced himself to stand tall and spread his scarlet feathered wings. He shoved down every shred of embaressment that threatened to creep up, leaving his wing eyes bare to the Crested Eboncrow that stood before him. Void. She was smirking slightly, and there was definitely... something in her gaze that made Mere feel like he was once more far beneath the surface of the Wyrmwound. Slimy... flithy... disgusting. And like something unknown had just swam by his leg, or he had just been missed by some eldritch tendril... His plume started to rise, and Void laughed. "You have nothing to fear from me, little Effluvial," the Ebon assured him as she finally moved, looking the Crow over slowly. Thoroughly. "After all. If Sickle and Scythe were to hear I had harmed one of their children... well, I don't think that scenario ends very well for me and mine, despite everything..." Void lightly trailed a claw across each of the now-prominent blue eyes across his wing. Four per side, with another on each shoulder. Plaguebringer's scabs... Mere nearly flinched at the mention of his parents, and then the added sensory input of the gentle touch. Well. The nekomata is out of the bag, I suppose... "...No... I would... I would imagine it wouldn't," the Effluvial forced himself to take a breath. "Do they know of your state? Or even that you still breathe?" Void prodded idly, finishing her circuit around the effluvial and turning her back on him. She wasn't even a little concerned. That almost hurt. "...No." "No. I thought not. I know of their... feelings towards those they consider Lesser Crows," a slight smile crept across the inky crow's features as she turned once more, giving her own bright green wing eyes a glance. Mere couldn't help the slight curl of his lips and scrunching of his snout. The way she strutted around went so far against everything he had been taught... He gave a firm shake of his head. "Well. I think I can keep you... safe. For a price, of course... And if we are very, very fortunate, my mate may even be able to help reverse your ill-fortune in time... What do you say, Mere? Will you come disguise yourself as one of my flock? Or you could always attempt to return to your parents. They couldn't be so cruel as to turn you away, now could they...?" Mere knew better than that. And so did Void, it would seem. It took several moments, but the effluvial hung his head finally. "I will join your flock, Void..." For now. 
  Mere was born a Greater Effluvial. He made a... mistake when attempting the Necromancer Trials, that resulted in his falling into the Wyrmwound. When he emerged, he had molted completely. When the feathers grew back in, he possessed the tell-tale markings of a Lesser Crow and was forced to flee and hide himself. Mere has a rather severe case of imposter syndrome, and has from a young age. Mere is only just coming into his own as a Deviant Crow. His Effluvial Strain is identical to that of a Greater Effluvial's. Mere keeps his wings entirely covered and uses dyes to hide the additional eye markings Lesser/Deviant Crows possess. He puts on the facade of being a Greater Effluvial still. His family believes him to be dead, and Mere won't step foot near the Autumnal Village or Manor.
