Saturejen

The Naga

Nagas get a bad reputation. They are known as the persecutors of all creatures, though this simply isn't true. This is likely due to their snakelike qualities, and the general perception of snakes being evil. Nagas are known to keep boards of treasure, making them fit in nicely with dragonkind. Some are known to have many heads, though this is a rarity among nagakind. They can appear in full human, serpent, or dragon form, though they will always appear to be spiral dragons.

His Story

It was raining. It poured down heavily, beating against the leaf that Saturejen hid under like an insistent drum. It seemed to grow louder as the minutes ticked by. He didn't know how much longer he could take this for. He wasn't used to hiding like this. Only days before, he had been ripped from a life he used to know, one of celebration and joy. If he hadn't wandered off, if he hadn't seen that strange phantom, he would still be at the camp, with the hunters. Instead, he'd lost his way, and was stuck trying desperately to find the home that he had never before strayed from.

Out of the corner of his eye, he thought he saw the familiar movement. The phantom, coming to haunt him. Saturejen ignored it. It had already plunged him into this terrible jungle, what more did it want? He turned the other way, waiting for the storm to die down so he could resume his search. How long had he been gone for? Three days? Four? It didn't matter much. The hunting party had likely moved on already. Even if he did manage to find the old campsite, he knew what he'd find there would be the remains of a fire and maybe, if he was lucky, supplies that they'd left behind for him. That wasn't a guarantee though, just a wishful dream.

The young serpent coiled up tighter. He was shaking, though he tried to ignore it. The phantom passed again, closer this time. 'It can't get me,' Saturejen thought. 'It's not of this world. It can't hurt me.' This did little to quell his fear of it.

"Are you lost?" A voice came from behind him. Saturejen jumped and whipped around, prepared to fight for his life. What he saw, however, was a dragon, white as snow, if it weren't for black hair and red accents. She was pretty, and seemed sympathetic, though he wanted no sympathy. He simply nodded, and the dragon looked back thoughtfully.

"So am I." She told him. He wasn't completely alone. That realization made him feel slightly better. Someone to talk with, and to search with. That would be infinitely better than searching on his own.

The storm stopped as he stared up at the much larger creature. He wasn't alone.
