Volute is the archivist, librarian, and historian of the Lair. He is fastidious, intelligent, and works with impressive speed. Some may find him unapproachable and his manner intimidating, though Volute welcomes all questions. He firmly reminds patrons of the Rookery Library that “it never hurts to ask”.
With the help of Xanthippe and other residents of the Lair, the Library accommodates dragons and Beastclan folk of all shapes and sizes. For example, because the books are physically small (though perfect in size for a Tundra or Mirror), there are many magnification devices available for larger breeds of dragons, such as handheld and desktop glasses.
Outside of the clan's library, he is a deft fighter, and can be seen sparring with Thalarc and Wynne. These days, however, he mostly flexes his transcribing muscles. Volute records stories, poems, and whatever else brought to him by Farah and visitors to the Rookery.
