Biography

THE TWELFTH DOCTOR
“Twelve”
YO1KDoB.png
The Doctor’s condition is unique. He is an involuntary shape-shifter, with a total of twelve known incarnations.

This process, known as ‘regeneration’, is not something he can control: it could strike at any time, changing him both in body and in mind. However, for all that he cannot predict or prevent his regenerations, the Doctor has never transformed in front of the rest of the Clan. The Doctor claims that the ability to regenerate is a by-product of his status as a ‘Time Lord’, but it remains unclear whether this is true – or whether he should be able to control it.

Each incarnation of the Doctor is different in both appearance and personality, though all twelve of them share a common protective streak and adventurous nature. Each of the Doctors also has his own favoured companions who accompany him when he leaves the Blue Plinth. With each regeneration, any of the incarnations may appear, apparently at random; the Clan has numbered them according to the order in which they met each version of the Doctor, in order to have a way to refer to the individual incarnations.

Irascible, sarcastic and manipulative, the Twelfth Doctor may well be the most unpleasant of them all. He is, however, strangely good with hatchlings - though he has no fondness for them. He has so far appeared infrequently, and so the Clan does not yet know him well.

Pain is a gift. Without the capacity for pain,
we can't feel the hurt we inflict.
