Starwood's BSJ 2020 Bio blurb:

Brought into the clan as a young hatchling, Starwood has long been curious of his birth-flight and origins. The clan has explained his egg was a gift, and while they claim it was from the gods themselves, he has his doubts. Surely any parent would say that to their young ones? As he grew and trained with dragons who were born beyond the clan, he heard stories of far distant places, and the experiences which shaped his trainers' lives. Starwood wants to have experiences of his own, and so this Brightshine, he sails forth to aid the Lightweaver. It will certainly teach him more of the places further from home, and he hopes, more about himself. And he hopes, hopes, hopes to find a Fire Lily to bring home with him as a talisman of his birth-flight.

Starwood's main bio:

Starwood was brought into the clan as a young hatchling. Although he was too young to have many memories of his hatching clan, the dragons at his new home were dedicated to ensuring that he knew about where his egg came from. They wanted to honor his origins, while making certain he knew about his welcome to grow and make a home with them, that he was family to them.

After he started training and spending time with the clan's Coli team, especially Chaska and Manayunk, Starwood realized that the leaders of the teams (as well as most of the dragons in the Coli crew) all had histories and legends from their pasts which stretched far beyond their time with the clan. Those adventures helped them know who they were and what they wanted, and ultimately those experiences helped them decide why they stayed in Starphire's clan. Starwood wanted that certainty too. And so he chose to set out on his own quest of wayfinding.

As the BrightShine Jubilee drew near, there were murmurs of a group looking for volunteers to help bring the Lightweaver's Sunflowers to places beyond easy reach. Starwood signed up, in the hopes that this would be an adventure of service. An adventure which he hoped would learn more of the world beyond his home, and more of himself. The clan was excited to see him growing into such a curious and exploratory? (adventurous synonym) spirit, and began gifting him with things and with knowledge, to aid him in his travels.

Some of these gifts were in story form, and while he had always known of his egg's origins, he was curious of the culture from the surroundings. (Heather), who had also joined the clan from the Nature territories, had a few more memories of the area and shared some of the things he remembered from that time. One such memory coincided with a story told by Chaska, from his travels. (2020.6.16-18?) (See Heth's bio for this part of the story!)

When Starwood decided to leave on the Brightshine Journey, Dreamsmith was intrigued. He too had spent time like Starwood training with Chaska and SunSpark, and he too saw the benefit of learning and traveling away from home, even if for just a short while. So after some thought and reflection, he decided to sign up and go as well. The clan was excited and proud of their intrepid adventurers, and enthused that they were participating in this journey to aid in the Lightweaver's cause.
Although they had celebrated before, they were feeling more festive than they had in past years. This year, two of their own were going out to assist the rest of the flight in a way the clan had not before. It gave them an air of overall excitement and added to the general anticipation permeating the clan.

Some dragons decorate the den, and others place firebugs and glowing tails in the trees around their home. The result is an enduring light which adds to the gentle light filtering through the green canopy of the trees during the day, and persists through the night, giving the communal areas a quiet welcoming glow. As the atmosphere changes to one of gently building celebration, so too do the dragons' spirits. Where they previously spent time together at the evening meal and then separated for the night, now they linger, with the early birds staying to chat a little and share conversation before heading off, and the rest continuing long after that.

The feeling of celebration brings forth a camaraderie of spirit and nostalgia, and dragons share stories. Older members telling clan lore from before the newer ones' times, and some dragons reminiscing of shared experiences of note. Older dragons with longer histories from before their introduction to the clan share wild stories of experience and adventure. Prominent in this are Chaska and Manayunk, but other dragons such as Harmony get in on the sharing.

Although (Heather) remembers little of his time in the Shrieking Wilds, he too shares stories from abroad. One such story he shares is a tale told in the Nature flight, as a bedtime story, and a point of beauty and pride to the dragons of the Gadekeeper. There is a flower which grows in the Wilds, he says, which has been blessed with bounty by none other than the Gladekeeper himself. It is said that its vibrant orange-red color, bright as blood, heralds a riot of growth and flourishing to follow it, and it is called the Fire Lily. The sighting of one is cause for joyous celebration, as it is a sign of blessing and prosperity to follow in the flora and blooms which soon surround it.

Dreamsmith finds the story lovely, but only that. Starwood however, is enchanted by the tail of vibrant beauty from his birth-flight. He asks the clan's artist who are still awake at that time if any has seen one, and could they paint or draw him a picture, please? None there at the time can say they have, and so Starwood heads to bed. But although he is disappointed to not have a physical or visual representation to bring with him, he has (Heather)'s story, and he hopes that it will be enough. He hopes to find a clan with someone who has seen one and could tell him more. He want to see if in his journeys he can put his natural affinity for plants to the test, and bring one home, so that all the clan can see one of these stunning examples of the Nature Flight's floral bounty. He would love to bring home a talisman of his birth flight, to remind him of his past, and help him in his future decisions. And so despite his minor disappointment, his hopes and convictions carry through with far greater feeling. He finds it hard to sleep with so much excitement. He is leaving so soon! This is it! But when he finally does drift off, in his mind are tangles of vibrant viridian foliage, and shadowed paths, and at the center of it all, a vivid splash of orangey-red.

When Starwood awakes, there is a scrap of paper in front of him, with writing on it.

"I heard you were looking for one of these, I wish you luck in your adventures, may you find what you seek."

There is no signature that he can see, but when he flips it over to check the back, there is a lovely little painting of an orangey-red flower, and it takes his breath away.

This is what he is going to be looking for. A Fire Lily.
