Liminal is an artist who somehow ended up at the Tribe. He pays his board with commission work; however, he is often found obsessing over his muse. He sits further back in the jungle, like another eccentric spiral dragon. Both consider the peace optimal to their creativity, however Liminal manages to express his passion in a healthier fashion. Liminal has a pond-turned-moat in his yard, which he fastidiously keeps clean. Hatchlings are absolutely forbidden from fishing in his pond, after an event caused him to nearly lose his prize koi. The birdlife around Liminal’s pond is astounding, which often attracts other peaceful dragons. Liminal does not mind them, as long as they stay quiet. Liminal looks great for his middle age, but hasn’t shown any interest in a mate yet.

The pond spread out wide, tantalisingly clear, and still. Not another dragon was in sight, disturbing the waters like they so often do. It was perfect. He had set himself up in his usual spot, surrounded by berries, various lettuces, and bugs most delectable. This was his moment, his time, to capture the beauty that oft graced his waters. She was pure white, with the sweetest singing voice. Like a swan, she glided across the water with her comrades, gently kissing the water. It was beautiful when she arrived. But she was not here yet. It had been months since she had last landed, and the months had turned cold and warm again. She was due soon, and like a lost suitor, Liminal was waiting for her arrival. He looked down at his sketchbook, full of hastily sketched ideas and notes. Quick poems, nothing more than scribbles on some pages, while other sketches had been worked on after the sun had set. This one, he tried so hard to capture her impassive stare, while this one he had fantasised about giving her a gift of ribbons, decorating the drawing with a lovely ribbon around her neck. If only she would arrive soon. Maybe this year she would accept his gifts. A bell chimed. Sun would set soon. He scattered the gathered food into the pond, watching the fish gulp from the surface. He gently scooped one from the water, gathering the sleeve in his other hand. He contemplated cooking it for dinner, before returning it to the water with a sigh. Not his pond fish. He did not know how the Guardians could just eat fish. Their faces were just too sweet. She did not come that day. The next day, he woke up to another bell chime. One of his vases had broken in the yard, possibly by rogue animals last night. It didn’t bother him; a simple clean-up was in order. Today he has planned on using his watercolours and clean up an earlier sketch. Grinding up some orange lilium petals, he set to work, not even noticing the gradual disappearance of his sandwiches, then his plate, then his mug of water. It did not matter, he was not that hungry anyway, and he was only using the one colour. The sketch turned out beautifully, with delicate shades of orange among the white of her feathers. She did not come that day. The next day was different, he knew. Instead of a bell, he heard the sweet sultry song. A wild, tempestuous tune of his muse. It was her; he knew it. She must have returned, from her far off lands of endless summer. He burst out of bed, stopping to pull his hair back in one of the ribbons he meant for her. He wanted to look his best. His boot was missing, probably kicked under the bed. It did not matter; he could go barefoot. He paused, listening. There it was again, like a tropical storm over icy waters. Like the wind, buffeting through his heart with its dulcet tones. She must be at the pond already, resting her wings after such a long trip. Perhaps she had thought of him, had brought back items from her travels? The door was slippery in his fumbling grasp, causing a spike of frustration. He was too excited, so ready to see her. Finally, the door was open, and he tumbled out, slamming the door shut behind him. He ran out to the pond, jumping over the gate in his haste. She had finally come, he knew. When he got to the pond, he stopped. And stared. There was no gathering of gossamer girls, dressed in delicate feathers. There certainly was no sign of his muse, his sharp-witted and beautiful lady. The pond was silent, save for one item, gently bobbing in the centre. How did his rake get in there?

This is a special bird designed for a certain artist. Other bird skeletons exist, but strangely, the only publicly available crow skeleton is cheap and gimmicky, almost looking like it's a cheap, poorly made substitute for the original...Crow
