One of the two founders of the Explorers of the Sky. Mariya is a joyful, if somewhat overzealous dragon, who was tasked by the Windsinger to explore the world together with her other half, Thayn. Mariya's intuition is unrivaled, and she is a very powerful wind mage.
Though she was created at the same time as Thayn, Mariya was the first to gain form, and thus is technically the elder of the two, though she often doesn't act like it. She values fun over safety, and tends to get herself and Thayn into trouble in various, all equally avoidable, ways. One could even say she leads them both into trouble on purpose.
She has an eye for shinies, and her favorite kind of treasure is the kind that simply sparkles with elemental power. Even if another artifact is technically more magical, the ones that are the most eye-catching are the ones she'll often go for. She always seems to know which ones are truly cursed, however, and leaves those alone... while whining and grumbling about how pretty it is.
Despite her seemingly ditzy nature, Mariya is very smart and generous, always happy to teach the youth about the world, and relay information about whatever she and Thayn have found over the years. She enjoys giving trinkets to her friends as a sign of how much she likes them. Beware if you befriend her: your hoard might just become cluttered with all sorts of artifacts! She means well, however, and understands that sometimes you just need to clear out your space.
