Delight

Mushrooms are hardy things. Left to their own devices, they will grow and multiply anywhere that the dark and dank is found, and that's true even of ones that weren't originally grown in a cavern of monstrous proportion full of chaotic primordial magics.

Magic mushrooms aren't much different from their less sentient brethren: they find the cold, the dark, and the dank. And they grow... Before the Now, she was a memory of UNITY.

When Her Gift flooded the mycelium and burned away the connection, UNITY became SOLITARY, the many became the one, and she was awash with loneliness, aware suddenly that alone meant more than being one shape. She swam in nothingness, and longed to know laughter once more.

This was where death was supposed to come.

Death did not come.

....which is Delightful.



The mushrooms take root easily and spread their hyphae across the corner of the domain they had claimed, turning nutrients into fuel into shape. The magic remembers that this soul was once something more than this. It isn't easy to encourage this colony to grow, and it seems to take very little time before the shape is solid enough to open its eyes.

The first thing it does is laugh. It's the sort of laughter that comes with the relief of realizing that you aren't going to die, the sort of joy that is rapturous. It laughs, until it cries, and then it leaps into the air, doing loop-de-loops until its wings are tired.

It approaches life with vivacity and joy, finding wonder in the smallest things...

Delight
During his travels in the Necropolis, Anubis frequently came across strange varieties of fungi. He eventually learned the truth about them and, still curious and wanting to know more, decided to harvest a small colony, which he took back to his underground den.

The colony took some time to grow, but once it'd attained a respectable size, it spawned a new creature: a Spiral-like entity, which Anubis called Delight, for the wonder and joy she had for the world.

Curious, childlike, and cheerful, Delight is Anubis' constant companion in the underground world. She invariably has questions about everything around her, and is always on the lookout for something new to chatter about.
