Biography
Nyddrar is a quiet warrior. As cool as the ice from which his ancestors came, he was calmer than any other. Strong as the ice that refuses to crack over the water, only a few could break him. Those few came in the forms of his best friends, Chromite and Cerlith. The three trained together, claw-in-claw, refusing the help of their fellow warriors.
Nyddrar is known for his cleverness. Even if he's silent, never speaking a word, he can always come up with - and convey - the best battle plans for his friends. He knows their individual strengths and weaknesses. He knows how they work best together, and how to bring them back together when they argue. He often has to play the peacekeeper role for the two dragonesses; though they'd never admit to fighting.
Nyddrar's favorite pastime can easily be pinpointed to stargazing. It became such a passion of his that as he aged, his pure black skin became dappled in perfect constellations, beautiful points of light scattered across his frame in the same way as the skies. The stars on his body change with the stars in the sky. With every day, they move ever so slightly. The pinpricks of light move with each season, following the lights of the night. Because of this, he became known as Nyddrar, the Stargazer. Eventually, his night vision became better than any other dragon's. Nyddrar could see the slightest of movement in the darkest of nights, needing only the light of the stars to see where most would need some moonlight. He became the leader of his trio's nighttime escapades, leading them by the reflective stars on his skin.
When Nyddrar met Chromite, he was an excitable hatchling. He didn't understand personal space, by any means, and he has no problems admitting to it. He loved honing his hunting instincts, often chasing around small animals that strayed too close to the lair. He'd often get lost, leading to Chromite having to track him down and drag him back, and oftentimes apologizing on his behalf. As he grew, however, he learned to calm down, to never stray too far. He could not handle himself on his own, by any means, if any foe should approach. His natural instinct was always flight over fight... That is, until Chromite and Cerlith were by his side to back him up.
Cerlith was a different case entirely. Not even Nyddrar could get her to talk; only Chromite was able. However, he relished the quiet she brought with once he matured. As a hatchling, he often got angry at her quiet demeanor, never wanting to play. He was fine with her not talking; he didn't talk either, but he wanted to move! He had all the energy in the world, while this dragoness would prefer to sit under a tree and read or paint. It wasn't that she didn't have the energy; she just didn't care to use it. As they grew, however, they grew closer than most. Many expected an announcement of hatchlings, but both knew that couldn't happen. As part of the Night Warrior clan, it was forbidden. Regardless, neither of them wanted that sort of relationship. They enjoyed their time together, occasionally going out in the middle of the night, just the two of them, to stargaze. Nyddrar managed to teach Cerlith to read the stars. His teachings did more than he expected, however. She began pointing out stars to him and claiming they meant something. The first prediction was simple; that a couple of their clanmates would be leaving soon. Just after that prediction, a few hatchlings were given away to another clan. Over the years, she continued making predictions, each one getting more and more serious. Only a very small handful did not come true. The night that she predicted all three of them would die, though, he could only pray that she would be wrong this time.
Nyddrar's prayers were heard. A patrol caught tracks of a small pack of shade-infested creatures and managed to get backup in time to defeat them. Cerlith confirmed that these creatures were what she saw. Daichi was in the initial group, and being shade-touched himself, was not at risk. He drew the pack away to give time for the backup patrol to arrive, and they managed to take them out with minimal injury. Nobody else was infected.
These three dragons are inseparable. You will hardly ever see one without the other two; even less often, seeing two without the last one. Chromite, the strength; Nyddrar, the brains; and Cerlith, the clairvoyant.
