The Necromancer
Mortician 
From a young age Akartan has been interested in death and why Imperial lifespan is so irregular. He finds Imperial life expectancy more of an annoyance (dying would disrupt his studies) than horror, and naturally this lead his interest to Emperors and the makeup of Imperials: why do they die like they do, and what exactly causes an Emperor. This is turn led him to research life and death and necromantic arts. The final aim of Akartan’s studies would be to find a way to help others to evade the problem that is Imperial lifespan without causing any additional problems, short term goal is to prolong his own lifespan to give him more time to research. Akartan’s field of study and the habit of being a bit of a recluse causes others to be cautious about him: the ones who know him trust that he is not going to go Emperor on everyone, but others are wary that he has turned his interests to Shade. There really is nothing to be afraid of: while Akartan’s worst fear is the possibility of never finding the solution, or dying before he finishes the research for himself, close second is the fear of causing harm to his clan-mates. The situation is slowly improving, with Akartan taking the position as the one to perform last rites. There might be whispering from the new clan-mates and those who will not stay longer, but the hatchlings absolutely love him. To be honest, Akartan is an imposing figure: a large blood-coloured Imperial, cloaked in dark apparel and trailing shadows and followed by an entourage of different kinds of un-dead and near-dead creatures. In addition to his studies and the role of undertaker, Akartan helps to speed-train new recruits. He fights with a mix of magic and melee, siphoning and redirecting life-energy from enemies to him and his allies, and is capable of staying alive long after he really shouldn’t and keeping the trainees alive at any way possible. Whenever Akartan appears to catch up with his clan-mates, Zaraiya usually accompanies him. The Wildclaw lady can be overprotective of her mate and always worries when he is out on a training trip. Akartan in turn is mostly amused by Zaraiya’s protectivity and takes it well. |
