Mostly shunned for his path of necromancy, Ulysses is a strange dragon that spends long hours on his own, studying and crafting his life's work. His prefers to be isolated in this way, finding the company of the living to be an annoyance more often than not.

Though most do not understand the necromancer, the stigma from the clan does not stop Ulysses from helping where he is needed, protecting the balance of life and death with curses, blood, and bone.

Ulysses has a strong physical presence and possesses a dark sense of humor that not many learn to appreciate.

Ulysses chose to mentor an apprentice, a promising student named Aphelion. Though the two have since parted ways, they often meet together at the border between clans to continue to exchange their knowledge.

Somewhere between life and death, one can find Relic, who believes at times that she truly is dead, possessed by her Bound familiar. Ulysses is completely fascinated with her family lineage, and does what he can to study and document her phenomenon.

Haunted by the ghosts of his murders, Somnium provides excellent company to keep. Ulysses is delighted to torment the young Skydancer, at times feeding power into his apparitions. Somnium, for some reason, lets him do this.

The fog along the river banks grapple at his feet, for he has meddled in the black arts.

Ulysses is an Umbral Necromancer sent to the clan as a representative of Clan Umbra. Although he prefers to live in seclusion and isolates himself from the rest of his clanmates, he was once a prominent member of the Umbral Coven, well known as a necromancer of deadly Shadow magic. He has since left his position behind him, curious of the dark and treacherous seas that his mother Rhine used to roam when the alliance between clans first formed.

Ulysses does not reside in the heart of Clan Abyss but instead lives just along the borders of the Driftwood Drag, a small section of Umbral territory where he maintains the peaceful travels between the allied clans. He often meets with his mother along this river delta. It is here one can find the resting grounds of Abyss and Umbra, which are closed off to all except for the grave keeper. He adamantly keeps to himself and tucks his life away in these grounds, finding better company in the deceased rather than the living. Ulysses prowling amidst the dead like a Guardian of the underworld; a protector of passed souls. Many of the slumbering dragons here have been buried by the necromancer himself, and he is quite fond of their company.

The few dragons that do visit the burial ground come to pay their respects to the deceased, so long as Ulysses doesn't frighten them into leaving. Although some are perhaps intrigued by his rituals and mystics, Aphelion is the only dragon that he considers to be respectable companionship, especially after spending so many moons training the younger Skydancer in the divination of the dead.
