Diplomacy: The Art of Restraining Power
One of three male Skydancers ranked in the third tier of the clan hierarchy, below only Chaos and Maelstrom, Azrael holds a position of considerable power. In addition to his diplomatic duties he is in charge of overseeing, organising and disciplining the Elemental Council and the research faction, headed by The Scholar.

Azrael was an early addition to the Avarice Clan, sent as a gift from Chaos' allies Clan Black Ice when they still resided in the Tangled Woods. He grew up with the clan and is quietly loyal to Chaos and Maelstrom, and very respectful of their strict leadership. Being in possession of a quiet, unassuming charm, intelligence, and a talent for negotiation and discussion, Azrael became the natural choice for a role needed early on in the clan's development, and one which is no less important as the clan grows larger - diplomat. It is Azrael's responsibility, with the guidance and within the wishes of Chaos, to negotiate directly with individual dragons or other clans when Chaos is considering an addition to their numbers.

Although Chaos and following her, Maelstrom, have final say on the entry or exit of every dragon to or from the Avarice Clan, Azrael is present at every meeting to keep tensions in check, offer Chaos advice, assess the personality and skills of the dragons in question, and help make decisions on potential places in the clan. He is skilled at keeping all parties calm, focused and civilised towards each other, and has a knack for helping dragons and clans not to take rejection personally. Naturally, it is also his role to remain aware of what roles the clan needs fulfilled as it grows, balancing the needs of the clan with their ongoing expansion. A clever, level-headed dragon, Azrael has proven perfect for the job and is indispensable to the clan. Despite being striking in appearance he is not vain, though he certainly carries himself with an easy pride and grace well-suited to his rank.
